Final DJ meeting tomorrow. Still don't have a song to walk down the aisle or first dance song!

Katie, on September 12, 2016 at 2:51 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

Tomorrow is our the final meeting with our DJ. As I was going over the list with FH he was completely surprised when I told him what songs we picked for the first dance (Can't Help Falling in Love by Haley Reinhart) and my bridal entrance song (Instrumental of Tale As Old As Time from Beauty and the Beast). We had decided a long time ago about the first dance. He was under the impression we would use the Elvis version (he never told me this). I don't really like the Elvis version. The bridal entrance song he said he thought I was joking about and he thinks it's corny.

Now I'm at a loss. He said he wants to do "I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz as our First Dance. I always thought that song was more about the lowest part of a relationship not the highest like our wedding day should be. He said it really resonates with him because of the hard times we've been through (his depression, losing a job etc).

Any advice or song picks we should look at?

Why not compromise on Can't help falling in love with you- you both like the song. I personally like the original Elvis version better.

Compromise is good... but man the Haley version is pretty fucking phenom.

@Nefferini - Better Place is FH's and my first dance song. I love that one.

You could do Canon in D for walking in. I know it's traditional, but it's also a classic.

My entrance song is the instrumental version (piano & violin) version of "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. I think it sounds absolutely beautiful!

What about other versions of Can't Help Falling in Love? We're thinking of using the 21 Pilots version.

ETA: Personally I love your BP entrance song, and I think that it's fine to use that even if he's not thrilled with it.

I would think it's ok to just go with with you like for your bridal entrance. I mean, that truly is your moment. But I do agree that it's important to find a compromise for your first dance. If the one song resonates with him, maybe reconsider and listen to it again from his perspective?

I think I will tell him since we need to know asap that we can use the Elvis version but I'm keeping my bridal entrance song lol.

@Elk Do you know if 21 Pilots ever recorded a studio version of that song? The only one I have heard was the live version on Youtube. I love it but it's not the best sound quality.
