Fillers for Favor Boxes...

Marlene, on April 8, 2010 at 12:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

I'm a DIY Bride and having a very small wedding of 20 family members only guests. I'd still like to give out a small favor as a Thank You for driving 1 hour to the ceremony/reception and 1 hour back. I'm going with a Cherry Blossom theme and thought about doing favor boxes or chinese take out boxes with personalized labels. You can see my Inspiration Board for more details. The problem is I don't know what to fill them with. Our families aren't big chocolate/candy eaters and I'm not a big fan of sugared almonds. I would like to fill them with something small, so I thought about hand sanitizer and lotion. The men will be getting a mini bottle of wine with a personalized label. Any other ideas/suggestions for the favor boxes? Thank You!

Ooo small chinees take out boxes filled with Chocolate rocks (They look like real rocks) Then put a branch of cherry blossoms in them (artificial so nothing gets contaminated). Instead of just giving them away, put each guests name on one and sit them in a circle in the middle of the table or in front of each plate. Then for just one price you have your favors, name cards, and centerpieces. If you aren't doing name cards put your names and wedding date on them instead.

Bath and body works has a line of cherry blossom scented items. You could pick up some of the travel sized ones.

I love the cherry blossom scent from bath & body. I have some lotion on my desk at work.

How about seeds for them to plant when they get home? I've seen votive candles, too.

Love your theme, by the way!

Fortune cookies! You can have custom cookies made, or get dozens for super cheap at the local Chinese market.

We're doing fortune cookies! we bought ours online and we got up to 5 different personalized sayings on the fortune, and they're not sending them until like 2 weeks before the wedding so they'll come in fresh! We're dipping ours in chocolate and sprinkles! they're a really cute idea and REALLY inexpensive...we got 300 for $60 (that's including tax/shipping)

It'd go well with the theme you're using!!

I think small travel size lotions from bath & body works would be a nice idea.

They all sound like great ideas! As a rule favors should be edible or usable so that the guest don't just take them home and put them in a pile for a garage sale. lol

I implore you not to use anything scented it is almost unbearable for people with allergies to even attend public functions because of the horrible reactions the mixture of scents cause to add to it by offering scented favors could be a serious mistake

    What about putting in a lip balm or hand cream or both? For more cherry blossom ideas take a look at;

What about filling them with beautiful fruit? Like pears from Harry and Davids or Cherrys?

If you have a Bath & Body Outlet near you, they have Cherry Blossom hand sanitizer and hand lotion, candles, etc in mini size as well as regular size. I'm sure they would have it in the regular stores too, but at a much higher price. The ones in the Outlets are usually 5/ $5 kind of deal.

Thank You for all the ideas! I actually already made my place/name cards. And we are getting centerpieces from the florist. I was planning on putting the favor boxes in a table and handing them out as we leave - its only 20 guests all family.

I like the idea of filling them with some kind of fruit. Our families are BIG fruit eaters - don't know why I didn't think of that before.

My other option is the hand sanitizer and lotion. I might also add a few mini soaps I just found on etsy. Truthfully, the Bath & Body Works Cherry Blossom soap is what started this theme. I have a bottle of it in the bathroom and kitchen.

Now should I do the small 3x3 box or the take-out box?
