We are getting married in a chapel themed like a casino. I look forward to pulling the slot machine lever that lights up and says "Just Married!"

I think my favorite detail will be me incorporating my Haitian traditions throughout the wedding. We don't cut the cake at the wedding but it is cut a few days after the wedding and shared with the groom and bride.

My arch I am getting married under. My dad cut my birch wood trees in my yard to make it. Also my photo board I made.

There are quite a few things, but I can narrow it down to 2! FIrst would be our wedding bands. They are far from traditional. My fiancé is going to be wearing a huge/chunky Skeletor ring by Han Cholo. And I’ll be wearing a custom made octopus tentacle ring with both of our birthstones. My ring is based on Ursula from The Little Mermaid to me. Our rings represent our favourite childhood villains from our favourite franchises.

Our wedding is also 80s themed. I’m wearing a traditional gown for the first half of the day, but I’ll be changing into a Madonna “Like a Virgin” inspired outfit for later that night when I really want to dance.

Our reception hall! well the decorations. Our nerdy friends and family might recognize the subtle hints in our wedding ceremony but our reception is going all out Star Wars and Sailor Moon. Our seating is going to be arranged by planets with the kids table being Earth that will include familiar Marvel/DC characters but still hint to Sailor moon.

I think it's our cake toppers! I love my sunflowers for my bouquet but that is a me thing while the cake toppers are an us thing.

There's too much to pick just one detail. We are keeping details of our wedding very quiet. Only bridesmaids, my mom and two of my aunts (who are incorporated into the ceremony), my brother and our wedding coordinator know any details. So can't wait for people to see everything!

This is also our move favorite and special part. Our daughter's adoption will be finalized just before the wedding but we have told everyone we don't know when it'll be done so we can announce it at the wedding to everyone. So happy for y'all!!!

There are a few individual pieces actually, but they all will be used for the overall affect.

We are creating two wedding arches made out of old doors and crossbeams. We are working hard to make it from re-purposed materials, so we went looking for extra wood in the garage, My fiance's house was built in the early 1900s and there was extra wood beams in the rafters in the garage. We pulled a few down. One of them had a date and name carved into it of the original builder. "Monday January 27th, 1907"!! The wood is 111 years old!!!

The beam became the crossbeam to the entrance of the outdoor wedding venue that everyone will have to walk through to sit down. Another beam will create the smaller arch that will create the alter. It's a labor of love to work with older wood but the energy and strength in these pieces will hopefully transfer themselves to a long and prosperous marriage.

My fiance's father passed away years ago. I have been hard at work making sure that his father's presence is felt. So in the center of the 111 year old beam, we will be hanging the horseshoe that his dad put up in the threshold of their old family cabin in the woods.

His father's favorite bird was a blue bird. I found the most precious bluebird and nest (representing family) to include in the garland and flowers that we are going to use to decorate the alter so that his dad can look over us when we say "I do"
