Fill in the blank Guest book / Mad Libs

Kirst, on May 1, 2012 at 3:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Hi Ladies,

Looking for some help with guest book ideas...I want to do a fill in the blank mad lib type of thing. But I'd like to have a few options so that each sheet is slightly different. I'd figure this will make it more fun to read later...So far I have the typical..

Don't forget to ____(verb)__ before you ___(verb)___ and ___(verb)___ after the ___(noun)___. FH should always ___(verb)__ FW's ___(noun)___ and FW should always ___(verb)___ FH's ____(noun)___. Make sure you ____(date idea) in your first year of marriage. We wish you ___(#)___ years of happiness and ___(adverb)__ ___(noun)___.

other options would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all!!

I'd make sure you give a few blank "normal" pages as well. I did a mad lib RSVP and I've had several people not fill them out at all (glad I stuck their name on the back of the card!) or send me some other form of correspondence saying that they are "thinking" about the mad lib so they don't want to send back the RSVP. So just as a heads up people just may not sign the book =0.

I agree! I was a little sad when I got back my first blank mad lib... I mean it wasn't a hard one.

I would change "advice" to a type of word (noun, verb, adverb, etc). Typically when you do a mad lib, you don't see the rest of the sentence, and I would have no idea what to put in there. =)

We are doing mad libs during cocktail hour with three different versions. I'd be happy to share with you what I have. We are also doing a thumbprint tree guest book for our actual guest book. That way if all our guests don't do the mad libs it's okay.

Our guest book is a little offbeat. My fiance's cousin is building us a wooden shadow box with a crosshatch inside (like a wine rack) that forms small cubby holes. Guests will sign or write a note on funky paper we found cut into smaller pieces and then roll the paper and stick it in a cubby hole. We like the idea because people can write anything they want without worrying about writing the same thing as someone else, and the end result we can hang up on a wall in our house instead of leaving a book in a box somewhere.

There are so many fun ways to do a guestbook! I like the mad-lib idea, but my fiance hates mad libs, so he would never go for something like that Smiley smile

We went to a wedding last summer where they did this, but it was in the back of the ceremony program and they had a box at the reception for them to be turned in....that's another option?

We're placing our mad libs at the tables so the guests know to fill them out before dinner is served. I even put "In lieu of a guest book...." on the instructions. Hopefully everyone will turn one in.
