My dad is not in the picture, so I am planning on dancing with my father-in-law for the dad/daughter dance.

I’m having the hardest time choosing a song because everything I’ve found makes it seem like they’ve known you forever, or are going to take care of you forever. He’s amazing, but we met when I was almost 30 and so our relationship isn’t super close like a father/stepfather would be.

Find a neutral song that isn’t sentimental. A couple examples: What A Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong or I Hope You Dance by LeAnne Womack.

If you aren’t super close, consider not having a dance together. Otherwise I agree with the previous poster in choosing a less sentimental song.

First, I’ll just say that a father/daughter dance is not required. If you’re doing it because you feel you “have” to, just don’t do it.

But if it IS something you want, there are some nice songs that aren’t specifically fatherly or love songs. I’d look for something more lighthearted. Wonderful Tonight, maybe My Girl.
