Figuring out my dress size (lover’s Society dress from Still White)

Becky, on March 22, 2020 at 3:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3
Hey brides,
I’ve picked my wedding dress and found the exact dress on Still White, so it is pre-owned but never worn. It is not a sample dress (so not stretched out) and size UK 12. I’m struggling with knowing what size I am, since I tried on a UK 10 at a store and it was a tiny bit too big in the waist (fit well at the bust and butt). But, in the end, isn’t sizing up always the better way to go? I would just order from the dress shop, however ordering from Still White would save me so much money! I’m conflicted.

Always easier to take a dress in than out! You may want to consult with a seamstress and see what the alterations would cost, especially if you have the dress sizes. Good luck!

I don’t think the sample dress is a good indicator of what size you will be. I tried on a size 10 in store (different brand, not Lover’s Society) and when we took my measurements I measure at a size 16. Sample dresses get so stretched out! Maybe you can find a size chart online.

If a 10 was close to fitting you well, a 12 sounds reasonable. It's SO much easier to take things in than out, and if you're talking about a difference of less than two sizes you should probably be just right. What does the dress look like?
