Figuring a date

Aisha, on February 2, 2020 at 5:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 15
So I have a date in mind, I was all ready to put it to paper and then I heard whispers about why I don’t have it in August. Now I live in Florida and August is the hottest time of year and we have the possibility of having hurricanes. My perfect time in my head is for December! Any thoughts on August in Florida

There’s going to be pros and cons for any date. My best advice would be to talk to the venues you have in mind and see what dates they have available and the different prices for each date and go from there. A lot of places get booked up more than a year in advance and places do off season pricing as well!

When my fiancé and I picked a date, we got sooo many comments that we changed it. And then we got comments on that date. And the next date.... and then we stopped caring!

It’s your wedding, not theirs! If they’re uncomfortable with the weather, they can dress to prepare for it! If we listened to every comment, I think we’d be getting married... never...

That’s exactly what I just said to my mother! I’m like I honestly don’t care what anyone else wants it’s MY wedding and I didn’t know I needed a specific reason to have it when I wanted it, other then that’s when I want it.

Would the venue be outside and inside, all outside, or all inside? I think that would help me determine. You don't want your guest dying from heat stroke but if it's inside I think either time of year can work! Another thing to think about is the time frame, August to December is a 4 month difference, I would think about if you have enough time to make the sooner month work (if you are any little bit impatient like me haha) or if you need more or like to take more time with decisions and DIY's if you are going to do any. Smiley smile

Outside and I already know August is hot and that’s why we didn’t pick that day. And I already fell a time constraint with picking a date in December. Stress to the max I feel behind already and I have 11 months!

You might be able to get a discount on a lot of wedding vendors in Florida! An outdoor wedding during the evening in August would be comfortable but speaking as a Floridian, during the day Florida in August is really unpleasant. Having the whole wedding indoors or at least an indoor reception really wouldn’t be any problem. Dates are important, so it’s up to you. I’d make sure to get wedding insurance if I did it in summer just because of the chances of rain and hurricanes.

Seasonal pricing can definitely help make a decision! I knew I wanted a spring wedding because I wanted wildflowers at the wedding, but part of me wishes I ddI a New England winter wedding... aaah, the savings...

I know it seems super close but that will be plenty of time to get things done. Smiley smile

Just try to do one thing at a time and it will help a lot.

I had a long engagement, a little over a year and a half, and besides date and venue we really didn't even start planning until about a year out. Definitely do able!

Pick the date that you both want. This will be your wedding anniversary, it’s 100% your decision. As someone not from Florida who has only visited there in the summer, its horrible. I couldn’t stand the heat and humidity. If you’re planning an outside wedding, and have out of town guests coming in, December sounds like a better option IMO.

I live in N.H. and we are doing 1.9.21. Some family have given opinions about winter wedding but it’s all in indoors! The discounts are sooo nice

We are Florida natives and are having our wedding in November. Granted it’s still hurricane season but since most storms come in late September through October I think we are pretty okay with our date 😊 plus we are in the Tampa Bay Area so we typically get spared from storms generally anyway. I would have preferred December myself but I too got some complaints about doing it so close to the holidays which is why we decided beginning of November.

When I lived in Orlando, January was my favorite time of year. It get cool enough during the day that you can actually breathe. That said, I'd go with your time line. More comfortable and it's what you want
