Fiance has 2 first names. How to write names on std and invitations?

Emily, on October 6, 2019 at 10:22 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

So my fiance has two first names: Alan John. But he is known as AJ by most people except in the professional field. My name is Emily and middle name is Elizabeth.

How would I go about listing our names on save the dates and/or wedding invitations?

I feel like AJ is too informal but Alan John would also be odd because John is still a part of his first name.

Any advice on this will help!!

I think it depends on the formality of the wedding and his preference. I personally would just put both of his first names.

I am doing first names only since he doesnt have a middle name. You could do the same, or do Emily Elizabeth / Alan-John. It actually sounds nice. I mean its YOUR wedding and you can do what your heart desires. My name is LaTonya Tamikia-Marie and his is just Jamar. So that is why I am doing LaTonya and Jamar

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Emily!

There is no right or wrong way to go about this so it totally depends on how your and your FH feel about it. If you are not having an overly formal wedding and your FH is more comfortable going by the name AJ, then you can totally go for that.

If you are having a more formal wedding, then I see nothing wrong with writing ‘Elizabeth and Alan John’.

It is your preference as to how formal your wedding is and if you and your fh feels comfortable in using AJ or Alan John. I would go with Emily Elizabeth/Alan John because it is formal.
