Fiancé chose a different suit...

...than what I had envisioned and we discussed. We’re going for a more modern and laid back feel, and therefore I wanted him to wear a gray blue (more blue toned) suit, a gray wool vest, and deep burgundy tie to match our colors. Inspo picture attached He ended up with the attached picture of the gray suit and the teal pattern inside and on the back of the matching gray vest which 100% clashes completely. We’re 30 days out and I’m super bummed that it completely clashes with the rest of the wedding stuff. He said he’d be willing to get a different vest to try to accomplish the same layered look I really wanted, but I’m completely at a loss. Does anyone have photos of a gray suit with burgundy details? He suggested a navy or burgundy vest under the gray suit but I barely see any examples online. We’re 31 days out and I have a massive headache. Thanks everyone!

    Burgundy would look lovely with the grey. My cousins FH is wearing grey in their wedding with a more reddish/maroon colored tie because her wedding is fall themed. It looks great together. Grey is a versatile color and matches a lot. I'd probably stick with the grey vest under the grey suit and just switch up the tie to a burgundy color to match. It will look more polished with less colors involved.

    I do like this how do you think the navy blue vest looks with the gray?

    Also FH is saying he wants a burgundy vest with gray suit?!? Does anyone have any examples of this I’ve seen like 2 examples online and cannot picture it at all!!!

    No one is going to see the lining of his suit or the back of the vest. Why is his even an issue? He can wear a burgundy tie and be reasonably close to your inspiration look.

    The whole back of the vest is made with the lining and he didn’t know it was going to come like that (had to order it separately), and he’ll definitely have the suit jacket off as soon as the ceremony is over so it’s going to be very very visible!

    He can keep his jacket on for any important pictures then relax like the rest of the guests and take his jacket off. Teal and burgundy go together so even with his jacket off , he will look great in a burgundy tie, white shirt and his grey pants. More than likely though, he will also take off his tie, and then the burgundy vs teal is irrelevant.

    You said you wanted a modern look. The suit he chose is modern whereas your inspiration pic is much more vintage inspired.

    Thank you! I actually like the tone of the top one a lot. It doesn’t look as horrible as I imagined. I just dislike the shiny personally because it reminds me of prom! Hopefully we can find something in the next few weeks that works! 😖

    I love the look of the top suit with the tie. It's nice and simple and looks great!

    I feel your frustration! I luckily have a guy who just couldn't care less about fashion and would just wear whatever I want. He's happy not to think about it. I would be so frustrated if he came home and just did a different look than we planned!
