Fh/mil Dance

Rachel, on September 20, 2019 at 12:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

My FH's mother passed many many years ago. His father and wife refuse to come to the wedding. I suggested a groom mother-in-law dance which both parties have agreed to, but neither know what song they want LOL I need suggestions. I am looking for something that is NOT sappy (no Son/Mother suggestions please). They both like oldies and old country. Her favorite artist are Randy Travis, Garth Brooks & Josh Turner. His are Justin Moore and Kenney Chesney. They both like Frank Sinatra, Neil Diamond and others in those eras.

I am trying to find something slow (but not super slow) and someone with a deep bass voice (my mothers request).

I have asked both of them several times what song they want and they both say whatever the other one wants is fine with them. So I am stuck choosing. I only have a few more days to figure this out. TIA!

I like these songs, but they seem more like ones between lovers, not a mother/son-in-law type. Maybe I am looking at all this wrong IDK I am trying to find one that isn't as romantic type that you would normally dedicate to your significant other.

It’s tough to find ones that are sentimental but not direct them at the person you’re dancing with. The “you’re nobody till somebody loves you” song is about being loved in general.

You're nobody til somebody loves you
    You're nobody til somebody cares
You may be king, you may possess the world and it's gold
But gold won't bring you happiness when you're growing old
The world still is the same, you never change it
As sure as the stars shine above
You're nobody til somebody loves you
So find yourself somebody to love
The world still is the same, you never change it
As sure as the stars shine above
Well, you're nobody til somebody loves you
So find yourself somebody to love

You could also have them each pick
3 songs and have the other listen to their picks and go from there?

How about What a Wonderful World--Louie Armstrong. That's slow, but not too slow, dreamy, but not romantic (in a lover kind of way), and it's a really beautiful song.

Also, I don't think the lyrics of the song matter as much in this situation. Obviously your guests will know that the groom is dancing with his MIL, and so I think it will be a sweet moment, regardless of the song you choose.
