Female Ushers

Jesse's Girl, on October 23, 2014 at 12:36 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 3

We will be having one male and one female usher at our wedding. I'm not sure if this is the norm elsewhere, but in our family and friend circles the ushers at a wedding will either wear the same suit as the groomsmen or the same but with a slight variation (such as wearing a different color vest or not wearing the suit coat). That is kind of what we are planning on doing and our male usher is cool with both options.

But I have no idea what the female usher should wear. I've never been to a wedding that has had a female usher so I don't even have anything to go off of to give me ideas. We're planning on having both of the ushers wear bouts so that it is obvious that they are part of the wedding party. But I have no idea what to suggest for the female usher to wear.

Suggestions, please?!

Our colors are red & silver, if that helps. BMs dresses will be red. GMs will be wearing black tux with red vest & silver tie

I have two girls that I originally called ushers, now I'm calling them greeters since I thought ushers were just for men. I will ask them both to wear a matching color (turquoise) and my bridesmaids are wearing red. Those are my two main colors. I am also getting them wrist corsages to wear, so they stand out. Maybe ask her to wear a silver or black dress or if your bridesmaids are in long dresses she could wear a short red one. You could also have her in like a black dress with a red sash or something similar. I really think a corsage is the way to go to make her stand out.

You could also just let her wear whatever since there's only one girl. The reason I chose a color is because I want the two to match.

I have seen loads of female ushers... But they arent called ushers. They are called hostesses. Usually they are dressed in sunday best, or a dress that is in the color pallet of the wedding.

My sister was an usher in our brother's wedding. She wore the same dress as the bridesmaids just in black (the bridesmaids were persimmon).
