Feeling so discouraged and stressed about ceremony options

Hi all. My FH and I are looking to get married in Lower Westchester in October. We postponed our reception but still want to get legally married and celebrate with immediate family. I’ve looked around at about 10 different restaurants that can host a ceremony with appetizers and drinks afterwards for just 15 people. Pretty much all of them are still way out of our budget since we are still having our reception in February for a larger group of guests.

I even looked at just hiring an officiant and going to a restaurant afterwards but not booking a room. They’re about $300-400! For that I might as well book a room.
At this point I feel like just going to the courthouse somewhere in Westchester and getting married there and calling it day. I’m sorry I’m ranting I just never pictured my wedding day to be like this. I don’t think anyone dreams of their wedding to be like this. This whole situation is so stressful.

    I'm sorry it's so frustrating.

I will say, as someone who works in the restaurant industry - the larger the group, the more it is. Also, not booking a room will ... you could end up waiting or not finding any restaurant that has the capacity for your group that night. (The one I usually work at, though not currently open for indoor seating, holds 44 people MAX.)

Have you looked into having the restaurant cater, but eat at home?

Thank you for your response. Everyone in the wedding party lives in an apartment so it’s a tight fit. If only we could cater I would do that!

Its definitely costly. what if you go to the court house and then host a small dinner at a restaurant afterwards?

We’re leaning towards that. Seems like the only way to make it work. Thank you!

I would suggest you go to courthouse where you take half of your group maybe parents (4) and 1 bf each. Which can be a zoom wedding and then still invite the 15 people out for dinner or just drinks and then order apps.
