Feeling like I'm in overdrive

Allison, on June 27, 2019 at 5:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 7
Hi ladies! Thank God for Wedding Wire and for this forum 😊 I feel like I have a tribe of girls that are in the same boat as me. Sooo I'm feeling a bit excited about planning our wedding, but it's still over a year away. We've Only been engaged for a month but I feel like the wedding planning world is not for the faint at heart lol. Vendors seem pushy for me to book right away and I can easily be persuaded to do so. How do you know when its necessary to make decisions or if the excitment is giving me false anxiety? Any kind words to ease my mind?

I totally feel you because I felt like when is the right time to book especially if I haven't felt like I researched enough yet? You can always do shopping around before you book anyone and anything. You'd definitely want to compare prices and packages.

We started wedding planning the day after we got engaged! FH wanted a super short engagement. We got engaged in April and are getting married October 13th. Do not put down any deposits without a contact to look over first! I’ve read so many horror stories on here. Happy planning!

I tried to follow a timeline of when it was recommended to book certain vendors and follow that in order. I got my venue first, then photographer, caterer, and now wrapping up florist and baker within the next few weeks. I had a few vendors that were super pushy and it just turned me off. I wouldn't book anyone like that personally. It did help me stay on track by giving myself mini "deadlines" but it was just to help me make a decision (I can be super indecisive) Good luck and happy planning!

Thank you Shelly. You're exactly right, I'm completely turned off by the ones that are pushy. In fact, I crossed them off my list. You're comment was very helpful, thank you so much.

You guys are right. I had lots of vendors basically trying to tell me what to do. Those vendors, according to my fh who's in the hotel and banquet industry, are trying to make a quick buck and cut corners. It's a total red flag.

I lovvvve your first few sentences! I too feel the same way about the women of WW being my bridal consultants. Don't let them push you into anything. I have planned our entire wedding since December. Truthfully since February, because the day after he proposed I got very sick and was hospitalized a few weeks then was so weak and recovering I couldn't even go back to work until February.
So just keep in mind if I can plan an entire wedding by myself, in essentially 5 months, then you too have plenty of time.
Oh, and some advice, that helped me alot, was make comparison charts when it comes to picking vendors. That way you can see all the services, prices and whats offered to decide on which to use.
