Feeling like a clown

kelsey , on April 12, 2019 at 10:40 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 9

I don't wear much makeup these days. usually just foundation to cover some blemishes, and mascara about once a week.

that being said- when i was in high school i was super into makeup and would often go to school with a full face on, so i think i am alright at it. not makeup artist worthy but definitely alright.

However, after going and splurging on things like blushes, primers, new brushes, and eyeshadows i feel like a total CLOWN.

maybe i just over did it because its been years since doing a full face, but I'm feeling a little discouraged right now. (i have to say i think i look better with just the foundation, maybe its cause thats what I'm just use to now, but i feel like a child playing with her mothers makeup while she's not home)

anyone else who wears minimal makeup day to day feel this way?

In high school and college I wore makeup. After college, I started really only wearing it when going out or events. In the past 3 years especially, I haven't worn makeup other than mascara. I also feel weird wearing it. I don't feel like I look myself and somehow feel uglier haha! For my engagement pics, I only wore mascara. I am doing a makeup trial next week so hopefully I like it.

Can you post a picture of a trial you did to get outside opinions? I never wear makeup. Maybe like once or twice a month, but it's minimal then. I more feel fancy & glamorous than a clown when I get my makeup done, but it is hard for me to get used to not rubbing my eyes or touching my face!

This is my exact feeling. Although I have never been a makeup person. If I wear makeup 2 times a year, that’s a lot for me. I had makeup done for my sisters wedding and I felt like I looked crazy.

I just fill in my eyebrows, that's all I do on a daily basis. Whenever I actually sit down to do a full face of makeup, I always feel like I overdo it, but I still like the way it turns out.

I don't wear any make-up either. I will wear lip gloss once in awhile. I have been stressing lately about my make-up trial. I loved how the make-up looked but I keep getting harassed about needing false eyelashes. I could care less that I have short eyelashes and I do not want to wear them on my special day.

Make sure you're using a light hand and the right brushes. I used to hate wearing blush, because I'm naturally flushed, and I really wanted to just neutralize all the redness on my face. The idea of putting any flush back on, on purpose, seemed clownish. But then I found a very sheer, pale blush (Benefit Dandelion) and it adds the right glow to my face, without looking readily apparent. If you want to try again, stick with something basic. Watch some "no makeup makeup look" tutorials on Youtube. Karima McKimmie has a really good one. 90% of her videos are super natural looks, and she's got a lovely natural looking bridal tutorial. And at the end of the day, you don't HAVE to wear a ton of makeup on your wedding day. Especially if you're really happy with your skin and how you look. I would suggest wearing some lip color (even if it's just a tinted balm), because it tends to improve how you look in photographs. But really? That's all you need on top of your regular routine.
