Feeling inadequate?

Alexandra, on January 22, 2020 at 9:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19
So, I’m not sure if this is a me thing or if any soon to be brides or brides dealt with this. So, my wedding is in September. I’ve been battling anxiety. I am also in school for nursing and work overnight as a nursing assistant. I have dress regret, so I took my dad and my grandma who I am really close with to shop again. They fell in love with one dress, but I couldn’t commit because I’m afraid of dress regret again and really being stuck. Also, my mom passed this summer and I feel like a big reason why I have dress regret is not being able to get her approval, and yes I know that I never will and have to move on. I feel like I’m inadequate planning this wedding, and I’m afraid I’m not going to be a good bride on the wedding day. I feel overwhelmed, scared and wanting to crawl in a hole. All aboard the hot mess express, LOL.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your mom! It has to be so hard to plan the happiest day of your life while grieving for your mom. I'm sure your grief has a lot to do with how you're feeling. Try to remember why you bought the dress you did, how you felt in it. What would your mom think of the dress? Trust your instincts. You will be a beautiful bride and have an amazing wedding. My FH lost his dad just before we got engaged. Planning the wedding has been very bittersweet for him.

You are overwhelmed for sure! Losing your mom, planning a wedding, working overnight shifts and juggling school...that is a lot!! Be kind to yourself. It will all be ok and as others have said, you will be a beautiful bride. The mere fact you can juggle all of this makes you such a strong person. Take a deep breath and when you feel a little less stressed, try that dress (maybe others too) again.
And just remember what you’re feeling is normal. Accept it and know that in time, you’ll be feeling more like yourself again!

Hey girl! First off, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I know that it must be tough to plan a wedding without her so kudos to you! I completely understand being stressed out. My wedding is in October and I have everything planned/booked so we're just using the next 9 months to pay for it all. I have been a trainwreck stressing about all the money here lately. No matter what, you'll be a beautiful bride on your big day! Don't stress about that at all. Which dress did your dad and grandma like? I would love to see it! Maybe some of us could help you make a decision? Smiley smile

I TOTALLY understand. You are def not the only one. I had the same feelings before I even wanted to go dress shopping. I was nervous and scared of dress regret and even 4 people coming with me I felt was a lot. I ended up finding my dress and deleting all photos of others.

Try to think about the reason you said yes to the dress Smiley smile Maybe you felt beautiful? Maybe it was the way it reminded you of something?

For me when I tried it on I had no words and it reminded me of my happiest times with my great grandmother in her garden of flowers and butterflies and I immediately thought of her when it was on and I felt so happy, the dress was gorgeous and I felt like a bride. I even asked the girl to try to top the dress and the dresses she gave me I still was like " I still keep thinking about that dress"

I am a person with overthinking-racing thoughts 24/7. It is hard but you know deep down what you want.

If it is in your budget to buy a new dress that makes you feel better then go for it.

Would you mind sharing a picture or are you keeping it private?

Awww that’s such a beautiful story on when you said yes! I had a similar situation, but now, I feel like maybe it’s not good enough. My dress makes me happy, it is in my budget but I still have doubts. This is the original dress. Feeling inadequate? 3

Aww you look soo beautiful! Satin is an elegant and classic look. I also just scrolled up and saw you added a photo already and the photo of the new one. If I were to choose I would still go with the ballgown and find a beautiful intricate veil(long).

The other one is nice too, but I feel like you stand out more in the ballgown. The trumpet one does have a harsh start stop. Almost looks like two different dress. My opinion though! lol Maybe if you really want to try and top the dress you have, you could keep looking for something that's beaded or lace unless you really want to stick to satin.

In the end though, its all what you feel comfortable and right in Smiley smile . You are very beautiful and you deserve the best!

Aww thank you so much too! I love the satin look of the ballgown, I just wish it had something more. The elaborate veil is a good idea, I’m just worried it won’t match!

You should def go back to the store and try your dress on and ask to try on different veils with it. I noticed you added a belt to make it pop more and that is such a great idea too Smiley smile . Also wearing a really cute headpiece like this:

Oh my gosh I love that headpiece! I would go back to the store, but since my dress is a discontinued dress now, I’m not sure if they will have a sample to try on Smiley sad

Its soo cute Smiley smile and oh no! hmm well maybe you could try on a similar dress to try on veils? I mean you could also find a dress you might like too if you truly want to replace it.

Both dresses look stunning on you!! They give off completely different vibes. Do you want to feel more princessy/bridey or more sexy? You can definitely accessorize the first one to be more blingy if you want. I can't help but notice your reaction in the first one. To me that says a lot.

Thank you! I mean the ballgown will always have a special place in my heart, I just don’t know if it’s not bridal enough with no sparkle. I’m afraid I’ll look like a girl in a big white dress rather than the modern sparkly bride.
