Feeling dress regret two months out. Should i change?

Haebin, on April 12, 2022 at 11:51 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 9
I fell in love with a beautiful satin dress but now I am regretting my choice due to the unforgiving nature of the fabric. I’ve tried countless shapewear options and still can’t find one that doesn’t show some kind of line or bends when I move. I’ve been working out like crazy but there is still that last bit of lower belly fat that is so hard to get rid of! Should I change dresses at this point? I just feel so unconfident in this dress now and wish I had gone with a different fabric…recent photo below of me at an alterations appointment. Honest opinions are appreciated.

I think that is a lovely dress on you.

try seamless underwear? that would not show the lines and bends

    …the dog, though 😆

I think it looks really good on you. I don’t see anything unforgiving. I do understand about the silky fabric. Maybe get it lined with a second layer or try a slip?

Oh girl, that dress looks STUNNING on you. Seriously, and I'm not just saying that. It's absolutely gorgeous and I think you look amazing in it. I completely understand that feeling when you look in the mirror and your eyes immediately go to whatever you're self-conscious about on your body. To me, though, I don't think that you have any unsightly bumps or bends - I think that no matter how much weight or body fat you lose, the fabric is still the type that will bend to the body. For example, I've seen people who've worn dresses of similar fabrics and they had an incredibly low body fat percentage, but you could see slight outlines of their pelvic bone. I don't think it looks bad at all and it's probably only very noticeable to you because we are our own worst critics. Trust me, you look stunning

You look so good! I know that when you don’t feel it and a bunch of people go “no you look great” doesn’t always make you feel any better but it is a lovely dress and you look great in it. Dress regret is totally normal. I’ve gone back and forth on mine for ages even though I love it. I’ve been working out the last year to try to get at least to a point where I don’t feel terrible in a dress but I will admit I’m definitely no where near where I want to be. It’s why I got a dress that isn’t form fitting on the bottom but I still hate my arms. And like the person above me said, we tend to focus on the things we dislike but are things no one else will even think about. I think you should definitely stick with it and just keep trying different options for underneath

I love that everyone is hyping you up, you do look amazing! But I think it comes down to whether you will feel your best on your wedding day. If you are going to feel insecure and not confident walking down the aisle, it might be worth it to go with something else. And honestly, looking at other dresses might just cause you to fall back in love with the first one! Smiley smile

I agree with the others that you look STUNNING. However, I also realize we're all our own worse critics. So if you aren't feeling comfortable, but still love your dress...have you considered adding a removable skirt to it? Or a belt?

Agreeing with everyone else, you look so wonderful in this! Also, if you're looking at pictures of models in satin dresses that are all smoothed out, keep in mind that many pics are photoshopped to smooth out wrinkles and bumps!

Someone else mentioned wearing a slip, you could also consider trying on detachable skirts to add on top to feel more comfortable? If you add an extra layer, either underneath or on top, it may help!
