Favors?

LadyRein, on November 8, 2019 at 6:26 AM Posted in Planning 0 16
I can't think of a thing. Does anyone still do favors? We have a photo booth, and an entire candy and dessert room. I really wanted a favor on the tables. Our theme is gatsby inspired. I don't want matches, candy, soap, cookies, alchol, or cigars. There will be so much to eat and drink. Any ideas? I might just let the whole favor idea go. But im open to suggestions!

Most people opt for edible favors bc so many get left behind!

I found these ideas and yes they are edible. personally if you don’t want to do edible favors that they can take home then i wouldn’t do favors. we did edible ones but the whole point is to have something to take home so even though you’ll have food and snacks at the wedding they will be taking these things home with them! i found a few ideas and something simple would maybe just be matching the glitsy vibes of Gatsby!

We had favors. We bought stemless wine glasses with our names and wedding date on them, filled the bottom with red and black m&m's (our colors), and we stuck a cake up on top of the m&m's. I totally understand you don't want to have more food, but that's honestly the most popular type of favors and people are more likely to take a favor that is edible than anything else. We had a photobooth, candy bar and wedding cake and people still took favors.

Favors are becoming a thing of the past. The last several weddings I have been to did not have favors. The the weddings before those that did have favors were food or succulents that got thrown away or died. I would save your money. We had a photo booth at our wedding as well. So we had our photo strips as our favors. We had our monogram and date on the bottom of the photo strip and people loved the booth. It worked out great.

I personally always like favors. But if you are having a candy bar already, why not have to-go vessels for people to take that as their favor and make some sort of sign?? I had 3 favors and MOST were taken. So I don't believe it's a dying thing as much as people say, maybe regional. I was always raised that favors are a must and it's just my personal opinion it's rude not to do so. The right kind of favor though is crucial. We had candy jars on the tables, interactive shot glasses, and photobooth strips. We had maybe 10 candy jars leftover and like 6 shot glasses, but there was extra of both to begin with, out of 100 guests that's a pretty good ratio.

I did a search for Gatsby party favors and it came up with the same thing we had for ours. These are bottle openers we found on Amazon. Ours came with a pillow box we filled with Skittles as a laugh, but others have simple gift tags you can add personalized stickers to. However, favors are not a necessity. You do already have really cute items for guests. It's all up to you.

Pictures from the photobooth and your dessert room can definitely serve as favors!!! But if you wanted something else, here are a few ideas. I had a friend who did playing cards as her favor and I thought that was cute! Edible gifts are always a good idea because people will actually take them and want them.

I'd go with edible favors for sure! The alcohol suggestions are great for a Gatsby theme - Jay would've definitely approved Smiley laugh

We did favors in addition to our photo booth. We had lavender potpourri bags & wine corks.

I think because you've got candy there you won't need additional favors

We did mugs for our brunch themed wedding. We chose diner mugs and had our logo I made printed on them. No mention of us, just a graphic and the subtle date. Fast forward over a year past our wedding we constantly are told by our friends and family that our mug favors are their favorite and beats out other mugs they've had.
Our wedding was technically a destination wedding with guests flying from across the globe. We also encouraged everyone to take bud vases with florals to enjoy them at home. Grandparents and parents were also given floral arrangements.

Depending on your decor, a nice alternative would be a nice vintage (shot) glass for each person that are mismatched, found at any thrift store. Edible gifts are always welcomed of course, including savory snacks.

Favors are something to include if you have some "extra" money to spend. My planner was very adamant on not having favors due to a couple reasons:

    1) Waste of money

    2) So many get left behind and then you're stuck with these things you might not want

We are specifically not using them but providing personalized koozies at the bar which can also be a favor, people will use them all night for their drinks and will most likely take them home and reuse them

I’m having an intimate wedding with 20 people but I got marble coasters with their names on it so it’s a favor and also place setting!

You can find cute bags/box with a sticker or your stuff on it for your candy. As far as I’m concerned that’s your favor. I’m considering bride and groom cake pops but having priced them yet.

We did personalized glasses. Guests are also using them for their drinks during our wedding. Here is the contact info for a friend who designed the glass for us. Holly GrubbsIG ******************@*****.***
