Favors

Jennifer, on October 4, 2021 at 5:27 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 20

Is anyone doing wedding favors? I have so many ideas in mind, but keep hearing how favors are a waste and to not spend your money on them. I am a sentimental person by nature and always hold onto/use favors that I receive because of the memories behind them. Am I alone in this? Or does anyone else feel like favors are fun?

I am doing wedding favors! Though I do agree that they aren't necessary at all and are totally optional. The ones we chose are edible and are part of what the area we are getting married in is known for (we're doing a semi destination wedding). We knew we didn't have to, but we wanted to give our guests something as a reminder of the area. I would avoid putting your name/wedding date on the physical item (especially if it were like a picture frame or coaster or something that would be displayed, though I think it would be fine to put it on like a shot glass or koozie or bottle opener, etc), or put it on the tag/packaging instead.

We're doing favors. A lot of people have said they weren't necessary, but I always thought it was a fun touch. We made the place cards the favors as it's a coaster personalized with the guest's name.

We did edible favors. We worked with my grandma to make cream cheese mints. While not a way to cherish anything they could keep the tag as a memento if they wanted to. I find edible favors the best way to go. Though one of my best friends did magnets with their bitmoji from snapchat. They were cute.

I agree that something edible or useful is best.

We decided our favours will also double as our place cards. We are having shortbread biscuits in our wedding colours with the first names on, kind of like this:

How about Polaroid film?? That's what we did! Guests loved the interactive experience during cocktail hour and got to take home photos from the event. If you're a sentimental person... this is perfect!

The only favors that I have seen were edibles and guests didn’t even have interest in those. I used to work weddings when I was younger as a guest book attendant and what the couples considered keepsakes were personalized napkins

I really love wedding favors also! I know a lot of people say they are a waste of money, but the thought of not having them never even crossed my mind. As a matter of fact, I keep wanting to add more and more favors LOL

Edit to add: I think the key to wedding favors is either providing something edible/drinkable, or something that you know your crowd will really enjoy. I know certain things that others say “no one likes” or “no one will take” are huge hits with certain crowds! For instance, i’ve seen so many people on here say not to get beer coozies with your names, dates, etc. on them… but I grew up in a small town in the Midwest and people there go nuts for them! (bonus points if you have some sort of funny saying on them too). So I definitely do not think wedding favors are a one size fits all thing. If there is something you are sure your guests will like, go for it!

We were originally planning to skip favors, but ended up going with a “useful” favor instead. We had mini hand sanitizers at each place setting, and they were a big hit — hardly any were left behindFavors 3

We're doing favors! I agree that they aren't necessary, but we wanted to have them. We know our crowd, so we're doing customized drink koozies with our dog's face on one side. Not many people on here like them, but we know our guests will use them often & also during our wedding!

I agree favors are NOT necessary, however we had 20 months to plan my wedding and my mom kept buying more and more haha. We bought whoopie pies from a local bakery and got small dessert boxes on Amazon with personalized stickers. We also got beautiful bottle openers on Etsy that look like old fashioned keys. My mom bought fancy paper and used calligraphy to write, “thank you for being a key part to our past, present and future.” She also bought a smaller amount of personalized coasters and mints, but those were mostly for people staying on site at the venue.

I honestly think they're a waste. The only favors I have ever enjoyed were food/beverages. I went to one and they had a M&M bar so you filled up a bag with custom M&Ms. Another wedding they gave out donuts in a box, another one gave out bottles of champagne. The only nonfood items I enjoyed was at a wedding where they got everyone "merch" like sweatshirts, sweatpants, hats, water bottles, etc. and you could choose one that you wanted. I still wear the sweatshirt around the house.

My daughter is painting every guest a small 3x3 or 4x3 painting. They are done with the person in mind. So, my cousin is getting a beautiful peacock feather painting as she loves peacocks. My daughter has spent about an hour on each painting. Of the 61 guest coming there are less than 10 she does not know personally. Those are getting a piece but those will be simpler. So, I really hope everyone loves them. She even did them for the vendors, so the DJ is getting a collage of all things music.

Yes, I love wedding favors as well! I'm currently going through the same thing, we decided on coffee and tea. Now, I'm adding and adding. Any advice on when's enough? Lol

Oh girl, I’m the last person you want to take advise from on this matter! Lol Right now we are providing welcome bags, 3 reception favors, 3 guest experiences, and a thank you brunch the next day…and I am still thinking of adding stuff! 🤦🏼‍♀️

We did personalized Tapatio bottles. My family is Hispanic and love hot sauces. If you are doing a phot booth, that could be considered your favor.

I am currently organising a 50th wedding anniversary for my parents and I am doing favours for all the guests. I bought the small snack size chocolates that are the favourites of my parents and put them in to beautiful gold boxes with a tag attached saying 'Thank you for attending our anniversary, Please take home something sweet with you' or something close to that Smiley smile. I'm a big fan of favours Smiley smile
