Favors or No Favors? Help a sister out

Sydney, on June 4, 2019 at 9:52 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 20
Hi everyone! My wedding is a ways off but I’m wondering how to do wedding favors. I hear that a newer trend is to forego wedding favors altogether, but then should I do something to make up for not having them? If you are having favors, what are they? We are having several hundred people at ours, so whatever they are will have to be cost-friendly! Thanks for the advice!

If you decide on favors, the general consensus is that edible is best. If you opt not to have any, you don't need to replace it with anything. You are already treating them to food (and possibly alcohol) and music for a fun night!

FH and I aren’t doing favors, we don’t really see a purpose in them and therefore cut them to save some money

Some people have used their wedding cake or whatever dessert in lieu of cake as favors. People will slice the cake and put it in nice boxes for guests to take home.
I opted for a candy buffet table ppl can grab whatever they want from.

We’re doing a candy table but I’ve heard of people making donations in lieu of the guests for special causes!

Naw, skip ‘em. Guests will remember food & drinks, not favors. Most will be left behind and then you will have wasted a LOT of money.

We aren’t doing them. They are often thrown out or added to the junk drawer. We are sending out thank you post cards with a picture of us on it that they can obviously keep as a momento.

We are not doing favors. I dont really see the point of it if we are already spending a lot of money on the wedding

We are doing favors - I wanted them. We are doing stemless wine glasses, which aren’t viewed favorably on here. However, when I told this to FH - he was like you really liked the stemless glasses, we are doing them. So we are doing them, and I’m excited about doing them.

Like others, we are not doing favors at the wedding. We didn't want to spend money on something that would end up being thrown away or forgotten at the venue. We've been to eight weddings in the past year and a half and only one had a favor. The favor was edible and people still left it behind. FH and I opted to do a late night snack instead because we feel like that will be most memorable for our guests.... and who doesn't want cheeseburger sliders and fries towards the end of the night??

We are doing edible favors. We met on Plenty of Fish so were having little baggies of goldfish with a cute label. I was going back and forth on favors but thought edible is best and it adds a personalized touch!

I actually love this idea. OP I'm not doing favors and I don't think they're necessary. Do what works for you!

FH and I are not doing favors, mostly to save money. However, we are getting a photo booth for the reception, and the guests who use it will get their photo strip at the time that they can take home, so it kind of works as a favor. It's really the only thing I would even consider as a favor, besides something edible.

Later on in our planning, we decided if we had the funds, we might put together some cute candy favors.

We are doing favors. I think people get carried away with thoughts on favors and that's why they become expensive. Honestly my favors will probably total $130 for 115 people and I have 2 favors. That's fine in my book. But with a couple hundred guests jeez that's a lot and a whole other bracket! Chocolate or candy is always nice. For the love of god don't do hersey kisses haha.

I know skipping the favors is the new trend - personally as a guest I enjoy favors we only have 60 ppl though, if I had your guest count I would consider skipping for costs - they're nice but not necessary. i'm making my own organic tea blend & making tea bags with personalized tags attached - i'm putting them in a muslin bag stamped with this personalized stamp I got on etsy & also adding in each bag a piece of rose quartz with a little card explain whats in the tea & the mythology of how rose quartz is the stone of unconditional love. I know it'll be a hit with my guests & I will use the tea & stones if there are any left

That sound so cute. I love tea, and the personalized tag is so creative.

We are doing a photo booth and using that as "favors".

We are doing bath bombe and soap fro our favors and going to put a little sign that says “bathe in our love” even if they get left behind we can either use them or regift them so I’m not too worried about it
