Favors - caricature or almonds

Meghan, on July 23, 2021 at 10:41 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 15
Hello! I’ve been going back and forth with favors because I’d like something that guests can either eat or actually would like to keep. I was going to do almonds, which are a Greek/Italian tradition but am now thinking of getting a caricature. Has anyone done this before? It looks like numbers are given out to guests and an easel is next to the artist so guests have an idea of when their turn is.

Ooh, I love the caricature idea! That would be something that is super fun and would be a personalized keepsake for each guest.

A caricature would be fun! But what is your guest count? I am just trying to figure out how all of your guests would be able to get one within a few hours. Unless there are multiple artists to draw them.

They said it’s takes about 3 mins for black and white drawings and about 6-9 for colored drawings. We sent out invites for 240 people and waiting on RSVPS. One person mentioned that you can also hire someone that’s in charge of handing out numbers and speaking with guests on any questions so the artist isn’t being interrupted with questions. I was going to book for maybe 3 hrs?

Caricatures would be so cool, and definitely a unique favor! I had a digital one done at a corporate event a couple years ago and loved it. There will be some people that will opt out of getting their caricature done, and you could possibly hire two artists if your budget allows (the event I went to had two and there was hardly ever a long line and it was just walk-ups).

Oh that’s so good to know! I was worried that people may hang around that area waiting instead of being on the dance floor. Thank you!

I vote caricature!! I love favors that I can keep and hold on to since I'm sentimental, so that would be great!

Oh okay I was thinking a longer time to draw, but that should be enough. & some people will opt out of it. That sounds really fun, such a good idea!

Thank you! I thought the same. I was shocked with how quick they can make them especially with some of the detail.

I love the caricature idea but you would definitely need at least 2 artists. If everyone got black and white they could only do 20 people and hour. With 3 hours you would get 60 drawings total. Inviting 240 people let’s say 200 come, even if everyone got drawn as a couple you will not have enough.

I would say caricature instead of almonds just because its a bit more original and I would worry about nut allergies.

Nut allergies have increased over time. Is there a different edible you can serve? Otherwise skip favors and put money toward what guests actually notice (food, open bar, dj) or your photos.
