Favorite Scents?

EGD, on September 11, 2021 at 10:55 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 14

A little bit random, and I know the answer to this varies on person and scents change based on who's wearing it, but bare with me!

I'm looking for wedding day scents for myself and FH, I'm asking for favorites to narrow down my search as I have this weird thing with too many scents and if I smell to many I go into sensory overload (I have had countless panic attacks in Yankee Candle to the point I can't even go in the store anymore)

I don't want anything too strong, but for myself I would like something a little feminine and light, I tend to gravitate toward vanilla, but possibly something floral as well.

FH also not too strong, but I'm getting him and his guys cigars and have a suspicion they'll smoke them before the ceremony (Photographer is taking pictures of them getting ready so thinking they may smoke them during pictures as none of them have self-control when it comes to cigars and I'm planning on getting really nice ones) and I'd rather him not smell like a cigar lounge when we meet at the end of the aisle lol.

Not sure about FH, but I’m wearing Chloe perfume. I don’t like heavy either and usually wear Princess by Vera Wang when I can find it.

I really like Calvin Klein’s “Eternity” perfume! I know they have a matching/complimentary version for men, but honestly, I couldn’t tell you a thing about it—I’m sure it pairs well with the perfume for women, though! To *me* it smells light, feminine with some floral notes and just…pretty??? It lingers (in a good way!) and has that ~expensive perfume~ smell (again, in a good way)!

Philosophy has scents Fresh Cream and Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere that are soft and similar to vanilla. They smell wonderful without having a “perfumey” smell or being too overpowering.

Bath and Body Works has great scents that you can layer. Givenchy Irresistible is good. I also love the entire Burberry line.

    Ooh what a fun question!

I personally LOVE Chanel. It's expensive, but it really lasts on the skin and most of them smell divine. For my wedding I'm wearing Chanel's Coco Mademoiselle, which is quite soft and romantic. I know you said you lean towards vanilla or floral scents, so my other favourites from Chanel probably won't be what you're looking for, but my other choice for a wedding would be Miss Dior Cherie - I love their original scent, the Blooming Bouquet one, and also Roses and Roses. Another two I like are Marc Jacob's Daisy Love, and Tommy Hilfiger Pear Blossom.

My go-to perfume is always Burberry Brit. It's light and I always get compliments that it gives just the right amount of scent without being overpowering.

This is a fun question! You can actually go to places and make your own perfumes!! You and FH can possibly go together and create things that compliment each other. Prada, Candy smells soooo good!! And CK One for him might be good.

Love that I stumbled on this question! I am thinking of doing my favorite - Original by Riddle. It's a roller oil that is supposed to smell a little different and 'original' on everyone. On me, it smells super fresh and clean and everyone always compliments it. For a warmer scent, I always loved Burberry Brit or J. Lo Promise smells nice too.

I'll be wearing "Si" by Giorgio Armani! It's my fiance's favorite scent of mine! It's very romantic and warm. It's a floral scent with "woody vanilla and rose notes" quoted from Sephora's website. I get complimented on it every time I wear it!

This is definitely a question I can answer confidently as I am a scentista! Based on what you described I would recommend buying yourself “Jo Malone” body and hand soap in “Peony and Blush Suede” with the perfume solid. (Perfume solid can only be purchased directly from Jo Malone, not sold in retail stores) I suggested the soap because it is heavenly and soft without smelling like you just sprayed yourself down, and the perfume solid because a small dab here and there lasts all day. For him I recommend Carolina Herrera “Bad Boy” or “212 NY” cologne . All of the aforementioned scents are fresh, soft and elegant without being “old” smelling. I’m pretty sure you can smell all of them at Sephora or Macy’s prior to purchasing. XO

I agree, out of my entire fragrance plethora Chanel Mademoiselle and Chance Eau Tendre are definitely in my top 3 favorites …. But I’ve found that they do not smell great on everyone!

Oh that is so weird! Like I know body chemistry does impact how a scent smells on people, but it still seems totally wild to actually experience something smelling two totally different ways on different people!

It’s completely odd, I know.. but my sense of smell is my strongest sense. I have countless perfumes, lotions, candles, and I always need fresh flowers in my home. I have smelled the same fragrance on different people and I have experienced some horrid combinations. (Also, consider what a person may bathe with or detergent they use, how their home smells or if they smoke or not. These are all factors that can alter a scent)
