Faux flowers vs real ones

Faux flowers vs real ones 1
Okay, so…this is the garland we started building for the Bride/Groom table! That’s my mom, MOH, and FH. So…my mom went and bought all these supplies to craft our own decor which I was all for originally until she told me what she spent on just these supplies alone…over $200!! I think it’s turning out beautifully but that seems a bit pricy considering some of the flowers were $5 a piece. My question is…would it be cheaper in the long run to just buy bouquets of real flowers closer to the time of the wedding, which isn’t until October of next year (colors are burgundy and rust with accents of gold) or continue buying piece by piece till we have everything to make ALL the centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, etc. She’s helping to pay for a majority of our wedding and bc of that I’m trying to find ways to help save on costs and find cheaper alternatives…

It looks really nice! I’d probably recommend pricing it before making more. Reach out to a local floral shop to see how much it would be if you’d go with them. I originally wanted to make my own bouquet but it was much easier to purchase one that was already made. I’m allergic to real flowers, so fake flowers work best for me. I think with making your own arrangements it can get to be a little costly.

Reach out to a local florist or one who specializes in do florals for special occasions and weddings, sending the ideas you have on how you would like to have the garland(s), bouquet(s), and centerpiece(s). asking for a quote. That way you can compare the pricing and have a much better idea which one would be the best for you to do.

A table garland like that, but made out of real flowers, would probably be $200. Bouquets usually run around $40-50 each, boutonnière $8 each, table centerpieces $60 each. This is the extreme low end of pricing where I am in NJ. Good luck!!

If you honestly want to save money (and time), just order from SomethingBorrowedBlooms! Rentable faux bouquets, greenery, and centerpieces that you can return at the end of the wedding! It's cost effective and super eco-friendly, imo!

The research we did found that fresh flowers are actually much more economical than faux. They don’t sit forever in a landfill or collect dust. There are many budget friendly options. Many grocery stores have an in house florist who can make arrangements for you. Other options are fiftyflowers.com which has tutorials online or grab several bouquets from Costco. Some local professional florists such as found on Thumbtack.com may not have the high minimums that most wedding florists do.
