Faux cakes

I've heard of this! Some couples are opting to have faux or smaller wedding cakes they can cut into for photos and then just having the caterer or whoever serve sheet cake.

I too heard faux cakes are not cheap and I'd never waste money on a cake guests can't eat and we'd just toss afterwards!

I recommend doing a small cake for photos/cutting and having sheet cake to serve. Cheaper and practical.

Yes! We found one at a bridal show that has a small section on the back of the tiered "fake" cake to put real cake in to do the cake cutting pictures. Then they roll the cake in the back and cut the sheet cakes so no one knows the difference. It would be about half the price (or more). The only catch is you can only choose from the styles they are have already made. We can't create our own. It's definitely something we are going to consider tho!
