Father/daughter dance with no father

Darknessbroken, on September 21, 2009 at 5:01 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Long story short, my father hasn't been in my life since I was 16. even before that, he was barely there. I've already asked my brother to walk me down the aisle since he's not in the bridal party. But as for the father/daughter dance, I wouldn't know whther to dance with my brother or ask my uncle I'm closest to on my mom's side. Any thoughts? I'd really appreciate it everyone! Thank you!

I say dance with which ever one you want, it doesn't have to be called the father/bride dance. Not all fathers are necessarily there for their daughters or sons

Just dance with whom ever you want! If you can't decide between your brother and uncle, perhaps you could dance half the song with each?

The half and half one sounds pretty good actually. I was thinking of having my brother walk me down the aisle then have my uncle dance with me since they're the only guys in my life besides my fiance.

Yes, you could skip it, or just call it a "Brother/Sister Dance" or "Uncle/Bride Dance". There are many brides in this same situation.

My dad passed away so I am in the same boatas you. My mom has been dating this guy for 7 years and always helps me so I asked him. My brother will be walking me down. I would say either one of them would probably be glad to.

My father passed away 15 years ago. I decided to have my brother walk me down the aisle. Then I am going to dance with my brother and I am also going to dance with my mom.

What about dancing with your new FATHER-in-law? i attended a wedding this past weekend where the brides father had passed away, so she opted to do a fun dance with her new FIL instead.
