Father of the Bride

Veronica, on April 9, 2019 at 12:07 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

My dad is walking me down the aisle and I was going to have him wear a boutonniere that matched my mom's corsage. She wants purple and blue orchids, but my mom thinks he should match me. I disagree and think he should match her. I am going to have a red rose bouquet with baby's breath. Who should my dad match?

I had my dad match the groom and groomsmen. They had white roses with some greenery.

I originally was planning on doing white rose corsages and boutonnieres, but we are having problems with our florist and her white flowers.

My mom told me my dad needs to match our burgundy color scheme since he will be walking me down the aisle. I’m only doing matching pocket squares and ties though, so my mom won’t have a corsage for him to match. In the end, I really don’t think any of these tiny details matter though, so do what you want!

It can go either way. If I was the one choosing between those two options, I think i'd have him match your mom.

What if you did white orchids. So his flower matches your moms but the color doesn't clash with yours

Do you think it will look odd together? The groomsmen and bridesmaid (my brother) will be wearing a red rose and baby's breath boutonniere and undecided about fiance's father. I just am concerned about having too many different flowers.

My florist told us all white flowers will start to brown rather quickly. She did white flowers for my brother's wedding and supposedly cut them the night before and by the time the wedding started which was at 2 PM a lot of the flowers were turning brown or limp.

I'm not 100% sure. I like that it pairs them together, but we are using the same flowers for all bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages.

I was going to use all the same which would have been the red with baby's breath, but my MIL is wearing purple which doesn't match the red, who knows what my FIL is wearing, my dad is wearing what i selected so he would match, and my mom hasn't picked a dress yet.

IMO, I don't see why the red corsage would clash too much with her purple dress. They don't have to match exactly.

I am OCD when it comes to matching so it would drive me crazy if their flowers don't match their dresses or suits.

We are doing all of the flowers the same colors. Everything is going to match, no matter who they are! All of the flowers are white and then we are adding succulents or some other sort of greenery and then everything is going to be tied with Gold ribbon, except my bouquet which will be tied with navy blue ribbon. That way, I don't have to stress about colors clashing!

I would love to white roses for the parents, but I'm worried about them turning brown.

If you are using a quality florist, they shouldn't turn brown.
