Father of the bride attire

The fathers of the bride and groom don't nevessarily have to match the groomsmen or groom if you don't want them to. My FH and his groomsmen are all wearing grey tuxes (GM in petal pink ties and FH in ivory). I told my dad and his dad that they can wear whatever suit they want. FOG already owns a nice suit, so he may just wear that. I left it up to him. My dad needs to buy a suit because he doesn't own one that fits. All I told them was that they just have to look nice lol.

I would do a lighter or darker grey suit so it doesn't match the groomsmen but it will be complimentary and I'd do a navy tie but maybe navy with a pattern of some sort.

He can wear whatever he wants, he doesn't have to match if he doesn't want to. I would ask what he would prefer. My FH is in a dark gray suit and the groomsmen are in a lighter gray suit. Our dads decided to get the lighter gray suit with a different color vest and bow tie than the groomsmen. So they have the same suit but they won't be matching exactly.

So what y'all saying is the father of the bride and the groom should wear the same color? Or a darker/lighter suit?

I personally don’t think your dad should math your FH nor the groomsmen.... my FH is also wearing navy and his groomsmen are wearing light gray and my dad might wear a black suit or dark brown

FH and the guys are wearing Navy tuxes so I asked pops to wear gray, any gray. I just think it would look better against the Navy than black will.

I mean my dad's probably going to show up in his black tie kilt ensemble, but that's none of my business.

Agreed! FH is wearing dark gray, groomsmen are wearing light gray, and my dad is wearing navy.

My dad wanted to wear the exact same Tux as FH so I let him... Up to personal preference.
