Do they match the groom and groomsmen? Or wear something different??

We bought them ties that were the same color (gray) but a different print.

My dad is remarried I told him to match his wife but I'll help so he "goes" with the bridal party if that makes sense

My dad is wearing the same tuxedo as the groom and groomsmen, but will be matching my mom in terms of his tie/vest/etc. The parents most likely won't be in pictures with the bridal party, so they don't have to match them.

Our dads are wearing the same tux but different color ties. They will also have slightly different bouts.

My dad wore the same tux but different color...he was in black and the GM's were in charcoal gray. I also bought him a different tie than the GM's. It was still in the same color scheme of the wedding though, which was his request. I really don't think it matters so much though.

I've seen it all over the place, really. My friend had both his father (groom) and the father of the bride in the same suit/vest/tie as the rest of the men in the wedding party. My SIL had both fathers' wear a nice suit, no matching the groom/groomsmen. It looks like for mine, my father will be wearing a black suit like the rest of the gents, but I bought him a tie a few moments ago that will match my mother's dress and not the wedding party. No clue what the father of the groom will be wearing, probably whatever he wants.

    EDIT: monday grammar

I work in a tux shop and specialize in weddings. I've seen it all over the place, truly. MOST people put their dad in the same suit/tux and then choose a different tie for him, usually a neutral or an ivory/ivory paisley because most of his pictures will be walking down the aisle and ivory matches the bride. Some couples pick a totally different color suit for their dad (ex: if groomsmen are in light grey, dads go in dark grey), but mostly I see dads match the bridal party.

My dad is wearing the same tux as all of the guys but is able to pick whatever tie/vest he wants. I think he will go with a white shirt/black tie to look pretty classic.

Are the dads into wearing jeans? If so they could get the same outfit as the gm but maybe change the color of the tie. If they are no Jean wearers I would let them where what ever they want.

I personally think it looks really weird when a FOG wears the same suit as the bridal party. It looks juvenile to me. I'd guess/hope that a FOG at almost any age would have at least one suit in his closet. It always makes me assume that FOG had to rent a suit as well, which is really odd to me.

FH is wearing steel grey tux and vest, groomsmen are wearing heather grey tux and vest. All will be wearing wedding color pocket square and bow tie. My dad and brother will be wearing black and white tuxes.

    How formal is your wedding?

We're having an ultra-formal wedding but probably flexing a tad on formality of tuxes because, hey, I wanted a few variations.

    Here's how we're lined up:

Groomsmen: black cutaway tuxedos with blue vests (matches horizon blue DB color) and blue bow ties

Groom: black cutaway tux with "platinum" vest (it's basically white, but a more shimmery white so it's not as lost on his shirt--think that's called a ruffled wing tip shirt???) and "platinum" bow tie

**** Fathers: black cutaway coats with "charcoal" vests--they're basically a deep, deep gray/black, but also a bit shimmery

So, the tux styles are all the same, and the vest and bow tie designs are all the same, but in different colors. The only unifying factor for everyone is a bit of shimmer.

Our fathers won't match our mothers. FMIL bought this dress

And my mom, who doesn't have the same body as the FMIL, bought a dress in deep navy.

We rented gray suits and purple ties/pocket protectors. We chose to match all the guys since there were only 4 of them - my husband, best man, my dad, and my son who escorted my mother.

In the weddings that I have photographed I have seen many where the father of the bride wears the same tuxedo but a different color tie. I've also seen a slightly different color tuxedo (still matching) but same tie. The photos have always looked lovely regardless!

Our dads will be wearing the same tux as FH and the GM, but with a silver vest, tie, and pocket square. They wanted to wear tuxes, so we went with that option.
