Father figure dance

MrsH2017, on March 28, 2016 at 2:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

I'm looking for an alternative to the father/daughter dance. I was raised by my Poppop, later in life my Dad came around more and now we have a good relationship, I also have a step dad that has been in my life for 15 years. Did I mention I'm also a mother to two boys?! I would love to be able to dance with all of these important men in my life but it would take forever and everyone would be bored. I don't want to necessarily do one song and switch out dance partners. That seems a bit rude to me to push one man out of the way to dance with the next for a few seconds. HELP! Open to ideas!!!

Do you already have a song picked out? I don't think it would be rude to have them step up one at a time and take over. Maybe Stepdad, Dad, Poppop, then your boys. It would be kind of cute to have each one tap the other's shoulder and cut in. That's awesome that you have so many men in your life that mean that much to you!

If you really want to dance with ALL of them, set aside 3-4 minutes and dance with each for ~1 minute. Your DJ can transition the songs easily, and your boys will know their "cue" when it is their song. That is how I would do this if it were me, anyway.

But I hate dancing. Dancing with my dad for 2 minutes was agonizing.

Maybe you should ask these men/boys if that is important to them. Some of them may not want that spotlight
