Father daughter dance

Kerin, on April 25, 2020 at 8:48 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5
This may be long...I apologize in advance.

This is a 2nd wedding for FH and I. Combined we have a 26 year old son, 21 year old daughter, 10 year old daughter and 7 year old daughter. My father didn't attend my 1st wedding and our younger 2 girls are giving me away while our 2 older children walk FH to the alter.
I can't guarantee my father will accept the invitation, we have a strange and disconnected relationship, but in the last few years there has been some communication.
Should I plan a father daughter dance? If he does come, I want him to feel included, but I'm sort of afraid to get my hopes up and be let down (this is the kind of person who would rsvp yes then not show). On the other hand, FH could dance with our daughters and my F FiL would have no hesitation of dancing with me at the wedding...ideas?

I kinda like your backup plan as your FH dancing with your daughters. But definitely don’t go through the stress of setting it up if you don’t think your dad will show up, id hate for you to be disappointed on your wedding day.

Is it possible to plan for your FH to dance with your daughters, and you to dance with your FFIL, while having a "reserve" song, in case your dad does show up?

That may be the best balance, so you'll have the good things planned, and a possible bonus, instead of a "oh, no, quick, cover!"

I would over plan rather than under plan... there are so many great songs out there, if your dad doesn’t actually come don’t let it get you down. Create new memories with your ever growing family. I loved the idea of the girls dancing with dad. You can even have a song for you and your son. It doesn’t have to be super traditional, it’s your day.
