Father daughter dance

Erica, on December 24, 2022 at 1:38 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 6
My mom is deceased and my dad is in a place where he can’t come, so should I ask my brother to do the father daughter dance?

Thats totally up to you, you could fully omit the dance if you'd like. I won't be having one.

I don’t know what to do really, I just don’t think it will feel the same if it’s not my father

The dance is not needed if your father is unable to do it. It is normally a transition dance to honor your father. Sometimes someone else may actually deserve that honor or someone can represent your father (maybe like an uncle, if comfortable with that) but otherwise can be omitted. Maybe you can dance with your NH and dedicate it to your father (by announcing he couldn't be here to dance). This can sort of balance a dance of your FH with his mother, for example.

That's tough without your folks. I would think you don't need to have that dance if it doesn't feel right.
