Father Daughter Dance Song

I have no idea what song my dad and I should dance to. Online there are countless lists of song options specifically for the father-daughter dance but I dislike all of them. It seems as though almost every song is either too mushy (making it sound like my dad and I have always been really close and we haven't honestly) or has romantic lyrics which seem weird for a father-daughter dance.

My only options right now are "My Girl" by The Temptations or "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong, but I'm not sold on anything.

Any suggestions?

Could you ask your dad what he wants? I didn't have any ideas/strong opinions either and asked my dad to pick. He chose "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong.

I did ask him. He still hasn't come up with any ideas. I'm going to suggest my options and check back in with him. I keep hoping there's some perfect for us song that I'm overlooking.

I asked my dad to pick our father-daughter dance song and the FH asked his mom to pick their mother-son dance song. It's a nice way to let them help and be involved.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a song relating to a father daughter that isn't about the relationship. I mean, that's why the artist wrote the song in the first place. I think asking your dad is a great suggestion.

I asked my dad for input, and he didn't provide much either , but we are going with Forever Young by Rod Stewart. It's not super slow or mushy/sappy which fits our relationship better than some of the more popular father daughter songs. My dad is also an oldies music fan and likes Rod Stewart, so win-win.

Ah I see. Well you do have time. My dad told me what he chose a week or so ago and my wedding is about 2 weeks away. When my parents got married they didn't have a first dance song until the night before and they had their band leader pick it.

I didn’t like any if the father-daughter songs so I picked a song that me and my dad used to skate to all the time. It reminds me of happy times and childhood memories.
