Farewell Brunch

Kelsey, on December 10, 2017 at 2:57 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4

Our wedding will be December 22,2018 in a beautiful little town in Vermont. It's somewhat of a destination wedding as most guests are coming from either MA/NY. With our wedding being so close to the holidays, I feel like most people will be eager to get on the road come Sunday morning (dec 23). We are doing a welcome party on Friday night, but is a farewell brunch necessary? Thanks!

No you don't need to do a farewell brunch. Since most people will want to get on the road, why don't you do sandwich trays and snacks and they can pack a lunch for their ride home.

People will definitely want to leave. Skip the brunch.

I agree with Richard that a lot of people are going to RSVP no. It's insanely costly already to travel, and with a mid-week Christmas, people are going to go "home" the day of your wedding.

We expected there to be some definite no's, especially FH friends are mostly military and scattered around the world. But we've been pleasantly surprised, our family from FL/CA/DC plan to attend since it will give them an excuse to come home for Christmas. I don't think we will be doing a brunch though. Thanks!

Lots of people are going to tell you they are coming a year out, and RSVP no.
