Family Style Farm Table Seating

Tara, on August 4, 2018 at 8:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 3
Hello! I’m working on my seating chart for my 8/18/18 wedding and was curious others opinions regarding table set up. We will be having family style seating using farm tables. We are doing a seating chart with assigned seating. I love the look of a full family style table... so I’m stuck trying to figure out if I should leave the 2 seats open directly across from the bride and groom (just have a fake placesetting in front of us)...? We will be having a receiving line so I don’t expect many people coming up to us throughout the night. Thoughts? What have other people done? Thanks!

Hi Tara! Family-style with farm tables will look great! We did that. Do you mean B&G will sit at the "head" of the table? Then I would leave the opposite end open unless there was an obvious and family-approved choice for guest placement there (i.e. if only one of you have a set of grandparents there, it might be nice to give the eldest elders those seats as a way to show eldest + youngest generations at the table heads. But then again, leaving it open allows the photographer to stand at that end and snap great photos of the B&G surrounded by food & friends. Smiley laugh

We opted to sit at the middle because I had a very specific vision in mind. I wanted guests to come into the wine cave and look straight down the farm tables to our highlight decor...a wine barrel bar with a skeleton on it (pirate wedding). Real thing looked as good as my vision! To save money, we had our photographer leave as soon as dinner was served (we didn't have dancing or cake cutting), but I asked for pics family feast because I wanted photos of that look and menu we carefully chose!

Let me know if you have any questions! We put three farm tables together, total of 17 people.

OMG those photos are BEAUTIFUL!! I love your design set-up. Swoon!! Sorry I didn’t explain that very well. There will be 17 tables. We (Bride and Groom) are sitting in the middle of the tables, with our bridal party seated next to us in a row (4 on each side). Seated across from us (directly across the table of the bride and groom), we thought we would keep the 2 seats open. Not assign anyone seats there (just keep a fake place setting)... this will allow people to come up to us to chat and a better view for photographer and guests to see us at dinner time during the reception. Is this a good idea? Or do people fill up the entire table, no empty spots? I hope I clarified that a little more.
