Hello all, I'm in need of some more of your wonderful advice!

Have any of you had a family style dinner (where dishes of food are brought to each table and passed around as if you're eating at home). I'm planning on 175-200 people and was originally considering a buffet. We would have several stations so the lines wouldn't be too long, but I'm thinking this may help cut down on wait time. I like the idea of a buffet because I want to give my guests the chance to choose what they want/how much the day of. I know that plates dinner would be faster, but I'm not completely sold on the idea.

I think family style will be a nice alternative and get everyone at the table talking! I know that they are all adults and will start a conversation anyway, but food always seems like a good start to conversation haha

So have any of you had family style dinners? Is there anything logistically that I should consider? Any and all advice is appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

    Family style > buffet

I really dislike buffet style- it always feels like cattle at a trough and you have to release people by table- and I just - I generally don't like it. so I'd be much happier to sit and be fed even if it's family style.

Plus I'm a complete and utter fat kid- I usually go back for seconds and it's always uncomfortable trying to figure out if it's okay- or I shouldn't- or I need to wait- or what. B/c Loading up your plate so it's brimming I feel is just rude- and selfish for those next in line- or further down the line.
