Family style dessert?

Hi all, my fiance and I really wanted a dessert table, but because of space reasons, it may not make sense for us to have one. We were thinking maybe we could do a small platter of assorted desserts for each table? Has anyone ever done this? What were the pros and cons? We're really not invested in having a cake or a cake-cutting moment.

I have not seen this done at a wedding before but I do like the idea! Especially if the desserts are mini sized so guests can try many of the different options.

We went to a wedding with family style dinner and the waitstaff brought out platters to each table for each course, then at dessert. It worked out well.

Dinner will be plated. We wanted stations, but again, to save space, we're going to do plated. But for dessert, we really want a variety, which is how this idea came up. Sounds like people have had good experiences with it though!
