Family sitting opposite sides

Kevin, on October 28, 2019 at 11:42 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 9
I read an article recently about families sitting on the opposite sides of the aisles. Brides family on grooms side and vice versa. This is very non traditional but it gives the families the opportunity to see the bride and groom from the front rather than the back of their head during the ceremony. Has anyone else heard of this or is going with it for their ceremony?

I haven't heard of that one in particular, but I have hear of having the guest sit in a horseshoe so everyone has a good view and the couple is "surrounded" (except for the open part of the shoe)

Personally I've never heard of this. We let everyone choose wear they sat rather having a bride and groom's side.

We didn't do this, we just let people sit wherever since we have a lot of mutual friends.

I know there's a brides side and grooms side. but the specifics im not sure about.I'm not a fan of this tradition tho. I would rather people sit wherever they'd like. Once you two are wed everyone becomes one big family. why should they choose sides?

I have seen instances like this. I plan on my side sitting on his side and vise versa so, they can see our faces respectively. However, at the reception, we are intending to have our families sit together. So, every other table is bride/groom family. We want them to get to know one another since we’re “joining families.”

I hadn't heard of this, but the woman who runs point at the ceremony location said that she typically seats the parents that way so they can see their kid's face

I think my FH and I are going to do this. I’ll be standing on the left and him on the right (traditional) but we may have my parents sitting on the right and his on the left so they can see *their* kids face during the ceremony. Everyone else can sit where they like.
