Family photos

Shelly, on November 24, 2019 at 7:52 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
For brides doing a first look, did you or do you plan to take family photos before the ceremony or after? I was thinking we would try to do them before, so right after the ceremony they can enjoy cocktail hour and not be stuck taking photos. My FH thinks we should do it after because he doesn’t want them all to see me before I walk down the aisle. We plan on doing bridal party photos before. And then me and FH will take photos during cocktail hour.

We did all our photos before. We wanted to make sure everyone got to enjoy cocktail hour, including us. When the ceremony was over, our wedding party and families headed directly to cocktail hour and we took about a dozen more photos outside before joining them.

I let my photographer decide because I thought she would know best . We did family after ceremony. It’s possible to do before if you really wanted and have small families

Planning to do the family photo after the ceremony. My photographer assured me that it wouldn't take long, he'll set up a tripod and crank them out lol

I believe we are doing photos afterwards. As someone else mentioned they say it will not take long. I think she said 30 minutes. I also think it helps to be organized. Have written down what you want for family photos. At the end of the day it truly is your preference. Talk with your photographer about the pros and cons of each option. They're the experts who do this nearly every wk.

We did family photos after the ceremony so I didn’t have to stress about making sure family members arrived early. I made a list of all the groupings we wanted pictures of and it only took 10 or 15 minutes and then we all went to cocktail hour.

We did family photos after but because I didn’t have a bridal party I got ready with my mom & sister so our photographer snapped a few pics of all three just before I went out for first look.

We are doing as much as possible before the ceremony because of our November date. Our photographer gave us a few options to help with timeline. But it depends on what will look best for your flow!

We are doing almost all of the pictures before the ceremony. We don't want to miss out on our cocktail hour!

If any family members arrive early enough, we'll take those photos before the ceremony. But for sure we'll do all of the wedding party photos.

Many of the family won't arrive until right before the ceremony, so we'll take those photos right after, during cocktail hour.
