Family Only

Felicity, on January 7, 2018 at 12:27 PM Posted in Planning 0 8
We are having a small wedding with about 40 guests, only family and no friends. I am wanting to bounce some ideas off of people who are planning or have planned similar weddings. I feel like the type of reception I would have if my friends were invited would be completely different than the one I am trying to have, and want everything to feel appropriate for my crowd.

Well what things are you thinking? My family parties harder than most of my friend crowd so our reception would have been the same no matter who attended.

Our wedding was about 55. Mostly family as DH has a huge family. My “side” was some family and some friends that are like family. I loved how intimate it was. What thoughts do you have?

I'm looking at doing a small wedding to renew our wedding vows since when we got married my husband was recovering from injuries from Iraq. I trying to get ideas on how to keep it simple and small any suggestions?

All but about 10 guests (our parents and siblings) are from out of town and very rarely see or get to talk to each other. I kind of get the feeling that our families will be more wanting to catch up than party. Which is fine by me, but I need to plan accordingly with the music/DJ situation. I feel like if it's going to be like that, then we really just need background music not necessarily a full on DJ. What did you guys go with?

My FH and I decided against dancing and are having a sit down dinner reception. We did hire a DJ to handle all music aspects of the day. The DJ will take care of cerermony, cocktail and dinnertime background music.

Thank you to you and your husband for his service. I would recommend an inclusive venue, maybe a restaurant ballroom to make planning easier and perhaps less expensive.

My wedding was small, mostly family, 42 guests. We held it at a restaurant in the rooms upstairs. Instead of having photos after the ceremony we did all photos before the ceremony so our families could enjoy the cocktail hour. We joined the cocktail hour, too. We skipped a grand entrance, speeches, tosses, and parent dances.
