Opinions please! My future mother in law showed me the dress she wants to wear to the wedding the other day. It’s a pretty dress. But she asked what I thought of the colors she was looking at and I am now trying to steer her in a different direction. All the dress colors she liked were like flowers on a white dress. I don’t want her wearing white. So now I’m trying to delicately suggest other colors. What colors would someone suggest (the dress comes on a ton) so my family photo looks nice? My fiancé will be in a light tan suit with a white shirt and navy tie. My mom is most likely wearing coral. Bridesmaids are in navy and groomsmen match my fiancé. I was thinking a gray/blue or kind of seafoam gray/green. It’s a beach wedding!

I think she should be allowed to wear what she wants. No one is going to confuse the mother of the groom in a floral dress for the bride. If you insist that she must wear something else, any other light, beachy color would be appropriate.

If she likes the color, let her wear it. No one is going to think she's the bride and plenty of people wear white dresses with patterns/flowers/etc on them to the wedding.

Consider me a traditionalist, but I think only the bride should be in white. Especially for the sake of the photos. It’ll flow more seamlessly and prints don’t look good in big group photos.

Ya she shouldn't be wearing white in any form. I would see how she felt about matching your mom's color but different dress or anything light would be amazing.

It's honestly mind boggling people still don't get the don't wear white in any form thing! Super annoying!

Well, she asked what you thought about her color choices and I think you need to be honest with her. She probably has no idea that you don't want her to wear white so, I think explaining to her in a loving way your issues and suggesting other colors or that you would prefer her to match the wedding party would be as helpful as it is necessary.

SN: Regardless of what anyone else says: This is your personal preference and its your wedding. It is okay to set boundaries/guidelines as you see fit.
