Family member to work at your wedding?

Ela_S, on September 15, 2019 at 1:33 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 6
Do you guys think it's appropriate to have a sibling work as a DJ for your wedding if they offer? They have the professional equipment and professional experience to do it. I'm just not sure how I feel about it. It'll help our budget tremendously since they're doing it for free but I also want them to be able to enjoy the wedding as a family member (not as a vendor).

I would prefer for my family to enjoy my wedding, not work it.

If they offered allow them to gift that to you. I've seen DJ's be able to both work and enjoy the event. Don't assume you know what they think, feel or want. They made the decision to offer knowing all that comes with that.

I think if you pay something for their services, it can be okay Smiley smile

My experience is that when the professional is familiar or familial with the client, the professional is not as professional as they would be normally.

My aunt has offered to do my photography, and my godfather is going to do be the DJ. They keep refusing payment, so I'll be getting them both nice practical gifts!! I think so long as they offered or are okay with doing it, and you're paying them in some way, it should be perfectly fine!!!

I wouldn't prefer it because the DJ usually is busy the whole night so I don't feel like they'd enjoy it as much if they were doing that
