Family feud

My mom does not like my fiancé family , including his mom. How do I keep them in the same room when I’m dress shopping without my mom smart mouth saying something lol

I would have a serious conversation with your mom (if you feel like she is the one who would be rude in any kind of way) and tell her this is your special day and whether anyone likes it or not they are going to become your family. While your mom doesn't have to accept them, she does have to deal with them on special occasions for YOU. Because she loves YOU.

Tell her it is your day and if she ruins it she cannot help you with anymore wedding stuff. Enforce boundries now or it'll get worse.

I’m kinda in that situation as well. When we announced our engagement on fb my mom reposted and one of our family friends commented joking around asking if they need to investigate my fiancé and such. She is a military wife and her (new)husband is a sheriff here in town. Amazing couple who’s basically family. My fiancé thought that was funny and liked the comments etc. his mother commented mad about how they don’t need to investigate him because he’s an upstanding boy with no history or issues or anything etc. Next day he was talking to his mom and now she doesn’t want to meet my family because of the fb posts. She wants to come to help me pick my dress etc and I don’t mind if she wants to but I’m not gonna tell my mom and others they can’t come etc

They dont have to be best friends but they can be adults and just be there for you. My mom is weird about meeting new people and when I had my fh step mom and mom with me for thr dress shopping she wasn't crazy about it. She told me after the appointment that she thinks my fh mom is annoying and well she kind of is but she was nice and was there for me not them.. if its important to you to have them there then she should understand that and not cause to much of an issue.

Right! Not to brag but my family comes from money and we’re all successful and then my fiancé family isn’t so financially stable. They think my family is bougie but in reality we worked hard for our futures and that’s where it got us. His mom loves me but his family can be wishy washy that’s why I only deal with them when I need too (our wedding) . I always invite his family to our events even my birthday dinner that just passed this week and nobody showed but his niece which is one of my bridesmaids but they expect me to come to everything of theirs

I have a very small family(military dad so we moved a lot but even then our extended family didn’t make an effort to even know us much when we would visit etc. add on some drama a few years ago and I don’t count a good chunk of my extended family as family and refuse to talk to them till they apologize to my mom for what they put her through). His family is already big but add on divorced parents who can’t even be in the same room together with out a fight starting, both of whom remarried so double the family from that too. His mom also has some medical issues and I know that’s why she acts like she does some times. I just want to find a way to get my moments that brides have when planning and stuff but keep the peace enough so my fiancé can have a good time to with planning and having our wedding

If this were my mother, I'd tell her to act like an adult or not attend. It isn't your job to baby sit a grown woman.

True but it’s more so of the things his mom said about me years ago that makes her mad

If you are okay with his mother, which I assume you are since she is going dress shopping, I'm sure your mother can be too.
