In another thread, I posted a photo of my 1987 wedding dress yesterday. My dress incorporated the skirt from my mom's 1948 wedding gown with a new bodice I made because I was too tall to wear her dress (probably too wide as well... ). Daughter tried on my dress a few years ago when she got engaged, but she's nearly 4" taller than I am, so it was a no go. We did, however, use fabric from the dress to wrap her bouquet, so that "Gramma, Auntie, and Mommy were all 'holding her hand' on her wedding day." My eldest sister wore our mom's dress in 1980 without any significant changes from the way mom wore it.... I love "family dresses," so here are some photos of ours. Around the time daughter got engaged, Elle posted this video showing brides trying on their mom's dress -- it still makes me cry. Any family ties with your wedding dress?

Me, in the 1987 version.

Clearly, we kind of love traditions!
