Family Color Matching?

The couple doesn’t typically dictate what color their families wear. They won’t be photographed with the bridal party so it truly doesn’t matter if they coordinate.

So I didn't specifically request it, but all of my family and friends know that teal/aqua is my favorite color, so there very naturally happened to be a lot of it, at least on my side. It didn't hurt that my sister and two sisters-in-love were my bridesmaids and were already in those colors too.

My husband's side of the family was a little more varied, but since we were embracing a lot of tropical colors in the flowers, it still worked (though his dad's red shirt kind of stands out....). Anyway, here, have examples of how it looks for both! Yeah, a lot more of my side came, but I figured I would include the photo of the extended family so you could see a big group with almost all matching colors.

Brides don’t really dictate what their guests wear. Also, even if you could get everyone to cooperate, it would be too matchy matchy for me.

I think asking your immediate families to wear a specific color is fine.
My fiances family has done this with anniversary parties before and it worked out fine.

In Mexican culture this is seen a lot. That's how you know who the family is. No one questions it, we just do it lol. My sisters quince is in a few months. I asked her what color she wants me to wear. Majority of my sisters already have their dress and my mom is looking into finding one that color. Just letting you know it is possible lol.

My sister and sister in laws will wear grey per our request. I don't know what kind of culture doesn't photograph the family with the bride but mine does and the bride suggests colors to wear.
I feel like you can't do gold and grey because it's too much like silver and will look funny.
Overall my parents had a turquoise and champagne wedding and its a cute color combo 30 years later. The should Poof's on the BM dresses not so much, but the colors are great.

We did this! we had a small wedding party– one best man and one best lady. to include our immediate family and grandparents we invited them to wear navy blue. our immediate families were there as we did our first look.
and we had portraits and group shots with family in navy.
it was a nice touch and our family seemed to enjoy being identified as our entourage.
