False lashes

Anyone choose to not use false lashes for your wedding day? Pictures & advice appreciated! I still have 3 months to figure out how to use them, but I am struggling!

Are you doing your own make up? I like the look of lashes- but I am having a professional do my make up. I don't think it will make or break your photos- they just wont be as full/defined. I use the black glue when I do them myself so if it smudges a little it looks like eyeliner. The key is waiting at least 30 seconds after you put the glue on the lashes- and if you aren't get the eye lash tool (almost like tweezers) to get them in the right spot.

Im assuming you're doing your own makeup on your wedding day, based on your post? I very rarely wear falsies, as I naturally have very long, thick lashes, but for my wedding day, most definitely! I want my eyes to really pop in my pictures. Falsies really can make or break an eye look. That being said, if you are not comfortable with falsies, here is my suggestion. Get a lash curler and curl your lashes, then apply a few generous coats of very black, very volumizing mascara. If you have short lashes, try to buy a mascara that says "length and volume" so it gives you both. Finally, make sure it is waterproof mascara if you are one to cry! I really hope this helps!

I didn't wear false lashes, but I have naturally long ones (and really hated being forced to wear false ones for performances when choreographers required them).

You'll want to use eye liner and mascara to help define your eyes and lashes for pictures.

I did a trial with a makeup artist recently and she put false eyelashes on me - i hated it! For someone like me, who is not used to wearing them, it feels really heavy and awkward. I didn't want to feel uncomfortable on my wedding day. I've also heard that the false eyelash glue can be messed up if you cry a lot - which I'm almost positive that I will. So keep that in mind as well. But, at the end of the day, it's whatever you think looks best on you!

I hate, hate, hate fake lashes. I have really long eyelashes and every time I'd wear them for a photo shoot, they would weigh down my eye lids and I could hardly keep them open. I refuse to wear them for any other occasion. I'm not sure what I'm doing for my wedding, but I'm trying to avoid it at all costs.

If you want to make your eyes pop but you don’t like how strip lashes feel/look you could try individual lashes. I do makeup regularly but if you aren’t sure how to apply individual lashes here is a good tutorial that teaches you how to apply them.. I actually find them a bit easier to apply.

Its time consuming but I think they are WAY more comfortable and also look a bit more natural when you’re looking down.

I have cried my fake lashes off in a show on more than one occasion (like fully plopped off and the front center audience definitely saw), so it's totally possible lol

If you're not used to wearing them, don't. You'll be blinking a ton and messing with your eyes all day.

Invest in a lash growing formula of some kind (there are loads of them). Three months is plenty of time to grow your own. Problem solved.

I grew up doing dance competitions, so while I'm comfortable wearing false lashes, they just seem like stage makeup to me. I have not put them on since my dance days, and refused to wear them on my wedding day. My MUA got to me though and very nicely talked me into trying them at my trial, "just for fun". I'm glad I did. There really wasn't a huge difference, just a little extra length. I was surprised how much different professional quality lashes were from stage makeup from 10 years ago lol. It's worth a try!

It is pricey but I did extensions. They came out good.

It’s really up to your eye shape and comfort. Fake lashes weigh down my lids and i don’t have a lot of space on my eyelid for them. Be yourself and do what feels right!

I don’t really care for the look of fake eyelashes, they look so unnatural 90% of the time and I can’t quit staring at them on people. My eyelashes are average and I use better than sex mascara, I will never use anything else again. It’s wonderful and makes my eyelashes look great.

I don't have photos, but I did my make up trial with fake eyelashes. I hated them, so I'm going to go without on the actual day. I'm just doing mascara and eyeliner.

Being someone who wears false lashes quite often, I like them and they don't bother me. If you put them on correctly they won't bother you either. If you want to wear them and need to know how to put them on you can youtube some videos or I can exlplain. They do look very pretty on if you buy a nice pair!

Agree with this 100%, OP! If they are applied correctly, they really shouldn't bother you. Look for falsies with a thinner band, rather than a thicker one. Also make sure for your wedding day, you use higher quality lashes. Drugstore lashes are great to practice, but for your wedding day, you're going to want something a bit nicer. You can also go as natural or as dramatic as you want with falsies. Not all false lashes have to be extremely long and voluminous. Definitely search on YouTube for videos on how to apply them.

I agree with both. If they are applied correctly you won't even know they are there! It really does take a lot of practice and patience, but eventually you'll get where you can apply them with your eyes closed. Smiley winking

I tried fake eyelashes for my e-photos and for a makeup trial (prior to a special date night). I hated them both times. In pictures all I saw were 2 black circles where my eyes are supposed to be. I have seen others in them and they look great. I recommend trying them and taking some pictures in different lighting. See how you like them on you in pictures. On top of that, I could not get used to the way they felt. After 3 hours I could not wait to rip them off. I will not be using them for the wedding.
