Fall vs Spring: Planning a date

Sydney, on September 17, 2019 at 9:35 AM Posted in Planning 0 16
I can’t seem to set my decision on a November Wedding vs an April Wedding? Spring is my favorite season, I love pastels and hope to find a gorgeous pink dress that I can later frame and hang! My style is spring oriented.
But November there’s little chance of rain, and there’s more of a cozy and comfortable theme I could go for. I love fall food! Coffee and apple cider doughnuts!
I’m just so torn! Can someone help me see the benefits in the beginning of spring vs the end of fall?

Does your future spouse have an opinion? I personally would always go for a fall wedding over spring. Depending on your location, spring can be hot, humid, and rainy. Plus bugs. Ew. I don’t think that colors are something to pick your date off of. Colors aren’t season specific. If you want to use pastels in November, go for it.

We are doing a spring wedding and still having cider donuts and coffee! I think you can really do whatever you want! We knew what colors we wanted first and then I knew I wanted something in the warmer months. We are foodies so we are having a buffet style dinner with all the comfort foods and cider donuts for dessert!

Really depends on your locale. Fall here in Florida is prime hurricane season so while it’s cooler that is a no go, for example. Unless you want to roll those dice.

How much time are you going to be spending outside? We are doing an outside ceremony but it will be shaded and then moving to a ballroom so our June date in key largo won’t be so miserably hot. Your venue selection will really determine your season.

We are having a spring wedding, but part of me wishes we would've gone for a fall wedding just because I love the fall color palettes and décor! I do love pastels too, but jewel tones have a special place in my heart lol. I think you should decide on what your ideal theme is to help choose which season would be best!

Don’t worry about colors, choose what you love! Is there a price break for spring or fall? That can be a big savings. Have a rain back-up for either season.

I picked April because a lot of my family is traveling from the north east where there’s a strong chance of snow in the late fall. Snow typically starts there around Halloween. I don’t want to risk my family not being able to make it to my wedding because of a major storm.

I’d recommend taking a look at weather trends in your location as well as any locations where your guest spot might be traveling from (unless they’re all local) and use that to help guide your decision.

I would say not to worry about colors since you can do whatever you want any time of year. Depending on where you live I would consider rain, temperatures, travel for guests, etc and then maybe pick the month.

My fiancé and I discussed it and decided to have ours in a November for some of those very reasons! We’re also in a beautiful part of PA, though, so I felt that the scenery would be beautiful no matter when we had it.

We are having our wedding in March. It took me a while to decide but we finally made the decision to go for March!! We wanted an outside ceremony and April is rainy and can get really hot in Louisiana, we also want the ceremony to happen at dusk so we wanted it to be before daylight savings kicked in so the reception wouldn't have to start so late.

I think you should find your venue first, then decide!! That way, you can find out if there is a price difference between the two seasons and you'll know if it will be outside or in and help your decision to be a little easier.

I agree with the other ladies that your color scheme can be whatever you want it to be regardless of time of year. You know whatever you decide, your wedding will to be amazing either way!! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and good luck!!!

We are getting married first week of April...less likely to be rainy.

You can have a November wedding and still have a Spring pastel theme! There is no rule saying what ever season you marry must be the season your theme matches. And you can also mix spring and fall elements into one. I think that would work out really well!

We go let engaged in the fall and having a spring wedding because we love spring colors/florals and pastel colors which is why we’re having a longer engagement to have it during the season we want! It’s up to you and your fiancé ultimately! November could be considered off season and things may be a bit cheaper but is it worth it or would you father wait?

It depends on where you live! Here in Missouri, Fall is cooler and the colors are beautiful -- especially in November. Plus the past few years, we didn't have any snow until December. Spring on the other hand is typically muggy and rains a lot. That's why we want a Fall wedding.

We really wanted Oct/Nov as well, but went with April because for our venue it was not high season, and we got a crazy discount from them to book in April. Our coordinator told us Fall is now the most popular for them, and pricing reflected that. It would have been almost double the $$ amount to have a wedding in the Fall, at least at that particular venue. Worth looking into if the same holds true for venues near you!
