Fall or Summer?

Kaitlyn, on July 29, 2019 at 9:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 12
This weekend we finally decided where we are going to have our wedding ceremony. The reception will be at the same location and both are outside. I have always wanted a June wedding, but seeing this weekend that there is little shade where we will say 'I Do' is a little intimidating. We will be renting a tent, but even those can get quite warm underneath. FH says he thinks September or October would be a better time of year. I really, really don't want a Fall wedding. I love greenery and white/ivory and want more earthy tones than the usual Fall colors. That being said, if I settle for September for the cooler temps, is a Summer "theme" still appropriate? I'm thinking early September and while it is technically Summer, September just feels really Fall-ish to me. Thoughts?

Of course! You can have any theme or color palette you want, regardless of season Smiley smile

Maybe I’m bias, because I’m having a fall wedding, and October is my favorite month. But depending where you live, June is a terrible month to get married in for an outside wedding. I dread going to outside weddings in June. It’s hot, humid, and honestly miserable where I live. That being said, you might have better June weather than me. But you can do whatever colors you want if you decide on a September wedding. It’s your wedding, you call the shots. Do what makes you happy.

Early June isn't too bad. My best friend just got married the first weekend in June this year and it was 75 degrees and absolutely beautiful! Fall is my favorite season but I am a very neutral person when it comes to color schemes. Late June is miserable though... you have a point with the humidity. The cake might start to melt :/

75 degrees would be great! June here is 90 degrees plus with outrageous humidity. I’ve been to so many outdoor weddings in June. The poor guys are sweating through their shirts by the end of the ceremony lol. If you can have a June wedding with 75 degree wedding and your cake won’t melt, I say do it! 🙃

The problem is, you can't predict the temperature a year in advance. Last July, the temps here were in the 80s. This year, we're in the upper 90s. You just don't know. June and July are horrible months for outdoor weddings. When I was planning my wedding, there was a bride on here who had an outdoor wedding in July and her grandmother passed out because of the heat. If you choose to have an outdoor wedding in June, an indoor backup is mandatory for temps above 80 degrees. If you want the greenery without the heat, I would try for late April or early May.

You can have any color or theme you want. My FH and I would have loved to get married on our anniversary(beginning of Dec) but due to the timing settled on 8/15 since this is my FH's lucky number. Our theme is 1930s hollywood glam and our colors are red, black, white and silver. Perfect for a December wedding, not idle for August. But my dream dress and his favorite suit are both 1930s so there was no debate. We are trying to " go back in time", why can't you bring Summer to fall?

You could always do a spring wedding. Right before it gets hot so it’s almost summer but without the heat. Also you will be getting your pretty greenery and flowers.

I thought about mid May! I would love a Spring wedding. Sadly, last year in April is rained 30/30 days..
And this April and May were similar. I know I can't predict the weather. Just hoping to find a happy medium!

Here in PA September is still hot as hell haha. I don't consider September fall really. It's sad cuz October is really our only true fall and then November comes around and everything goes to crap. Early September you can certainly still do your summery greenery theme!

Early September weather resembles early June where I live! I think using "summer colors and greenery" in September is completely fine! The evening may even cool off a little bit so it won't be as hot and feel perfect outside!

I had a June wedding...and IT WAS HOT!!! Since your entire wedding will be outdoors, I definitely agree with your FH on having it during cooler months. You absolutely can have whatever color schemes you want, no matter the season. It is your wedding. If you are really against Fall, then I'd consider Spring.

I think it's ok to do whatever colors and themes you want regardless of the season. After all they're just colors.
