We had our ceremony from 430-5, cocktail hour 5-6, and reception 6-11. I would have pushed it back a bit just based on sunset time. We ducked out of dinner to take sunset photos and it interfered with our table visits.

We are getting married Sept 15th and we are in MA, so pretty far North. Our reception is running from 6:30-11:30 with cocktail hour from 6:30-7:30. We are planning to do first look pictures and most of our pictures before the ceremony due to the earlier sunset. Then we plan to get some last minute sunset pics in during the cocktail hour. We originally wanted to follow the tradition of not seeing each other until the ceremony, but changed our minds due to the earlier sunset and not having enough time to get pics after the ceremony.

We have a Fri wedding & therefore had a late afternoon/evening wedding (local guests only had to miss a couple hrs of work).

We worked with our vendors to build out time line:

    3:00 1st look & H's family pics

5:00 ceremony followed a group guest pic & my family pics

    5:30 cocktail hr

6:30 dinner with reception until 10:30.

I don't regret our timeline at all; but I do regret not having a DOC!

We're before daylight saving time (not sure if it ends or begins in fall) so our ceremony is at 5pm. Reception will be 5:30-10:30

    Ceremony 5-5:30

    Cocktail hour 5:30-6:30

    Reception 6:30-10:30

I have no idea if the lighting outside would have been correct at these times because it rained most of the day. It was a good time for everything though. I thought the reception would end too early but it wound up being an ok time, we were tired and most of our guests had driven into town that day and were also tired.
