Fall Brides: Outdoor Ceremony?

For any fall brides (past, present or future!) - did you hold your ceremony outside or inside? For those whom HAVE held their ceremonies outside - how did your guest feel about it? We were planning on an outdoor ceremony on the patio of our reception site from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm before moving...

We were planning on an outdoor ceremony on the patio of our reception site from 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm before moving indoors but I am concerned it will be too chilly for people at that time of year. I checked and in my area - the average temperate is around 50 degrees F which I don't' THINK is too bad for a short time but I might be crazy.

Edit for Context: I live in Northeast, PA (the Poconos!)

Thanks everyone. Being a year out I am going to have to play it buy ear (and possible start stocking up on pashima/shawls/etc to be safe!)

The only advice I can add, also being from PA, if you are committed to an outdoor ceremony in October, please consider the weather variables when choosing your and your bridesmaids gowns. I was MOH for my cousin several years ago, and was forced to wear a strapless gown on top of a mountain in mid-October. Not exactly the most comfortable I've ever been!

I'm from central PA. I'd just definitely make sure you have a back up plan. We were freezing our butts off last week and now this week it's in the 70s

Our ceremony and cocktail hour are supposed to be outside, but will likely move indoors because of rain. Here in GA the temp in November is moderate around 60's, so it's perfect. I personally run hot so I wouldn't mind being outside in the 50's, but some might. If you're set on it being outside maybe buy blankets and offer it for guests and have some shaws for bridesmaids? That way everyone who is cold will be able to have some extra layers Smiley smile

@mrs1780 Seriously...this weather we are having is crazy!! Pouring one day and sunny the next. Going back and forth between really cold and the 70s. In Harrisburg we even had some kind of hail thrown in the one day. Love your Mr/Mrs sweatshirts!

I just got married on October 23rd, the day before it was VERY warm, about 75 degrees. I think the day of the wedding it was a high of 60 and it was PERFECT. I told the mom's to tell all the family that the ceremony WOULD be outside. Might just have to be a game time decision and see how cold it will be. If its sunny out go for it! If its cloudy, maybe have it inside.

Lindsay Eileen - those aren't us unfortunately Smiley sad I do want them though. I didn't know you were in Harrisburg. We're in York originally from Mechanicsburg / Camp Hill

@mrs1780 Oh wow...small world! Yes I've lived in the Harrisburg area all of my life. My DH moved to Mechanicsburg from Johnstown for a job, and that's how we met. I have cousins in York!

It got down to freezing here in DC around that time in October...it was a fluke but just saying. Pretty risky!
