Fake vs. Real Flowers

Danielle, on December 3, 2019 at 10:36 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 5

Hi! My wedding is planned to be in January of 2021. I know I have a lot of time, but I like to start early.

I really love the smell of flowers and would love to have them in my bouquet, etc, but I don't know how well they would fair in January. We plan on taking pictures before and after the ceremony and the majority of the pictures will be outside. It'll be in South Mississippi so the temperatures don't go below the 40s then. Would you guys recommend fake or real flowers for a winter wedding?

Thank you!

Just go with whatever is in season in your colors and they should be fine. Your flowers aren't going to die from taking outdoor photos for an hour or two.

We are getting married in March in Pennsylvania and using real flowers! I love real flowers as well and found a local florist who is doing everything, delivery and set up included for $1300. We are doing a first look and will be taking pictures before and after the ceremony as well. But they should be fine. I'm having vases of water for the bouquets at the reception. I'm using hydrangeas and roses with eucalyptus.

I love real flowers, so mine were ordered from the local Kroger and online from FiftyFlowers! I would go for real because faux ones that look real often cost so much money. It would likely be more cost efficient to order real ones from local grocery stores or online sites like FiftyFlowers

Welcome to the WeddingWire community Danielle!

If you really want fresh flowers for your wedding, then all you have to do is work with your florist to choose flowers that are in season. They should be fine in your bouquet for your wedding day and all of your photos!

If you wanted, you could have fresh flowers for your bouquet and then use artificial flowers for your centerpieces and other decor.

Do you have an idea of what you want your bouquet to look like?

I would say do whatever you want to do. if you do real flowers they will be delivered that day and will last for the whole day. The florist will be able to assist you in types of flowers best for colder weather. the good thing about fake is you keep them forever.
