Fake or real?

Kaylee, on September 23, 2019 at 10:08 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 26
Okay, I’m having some issues as to whether I should use real or fake flowers! What are the pros and cons of both of them?

Agree with PP. I am using minimal flowers or barely any. I dislike real ones due to allergies.

Solar wood flowers are nice along with Kong’s moments. They are reasonably priced as well.

We are thinking fake flowers would look nice and be slightly cheaper! Unsure what we will do for sure on what fake flowers would look the best but we got time =).

I had both! Fake for arch because swags are difficult, then real for centerpieces

Fake flowers you can get any flower you want year round! This is why I went with fake flowers. My favorite flower the dahlia does not grown in December.

We are using fake. We are having a DW and I figured they’d be easier to transport & we wouldn’t have to worry about them wilting, etc

We decided to go for real flowers! The fake ones would just be sitting around collecting dust after the wedding. We're going through Kroger's floral services for our flowers!

    Real cons:
    1. You will need Water for them before and during your event.
    2. They may still wilt.
    3. You’re choices are restricted due to what’s in season.
    4. What are you going to do with them after your event?

    Artificial Pros:
    1. They’re not real, so there’ll be no Water or wilting.
    2. You can have whatever type of flower you want.
    3. There are no restrictions.

I decided to go with fake. I struggled back and forth for a long time! It's a hard thing to spend money on! Real is so expensive and then they go in the trash...fake are cheaper, butttt what will you do with all of them after the wedding? I'm thinking ill end up with a few as decorations in my new house haha. Fake is hard because if you have zero floral experience (like me) it takes a really long time to figure out what you're doing. With real a talented person is typically arranging them.

I’m going with real cause I always try to be environmentally conscious and I’m doing the same with our wedding. Real flowers are biodegradable while fake flowers are just going to end up in a landfill somewhere. Just wanted to give a different perspective than everyone else commenting. Someone above asked about real flowers “what are you going to do with them after the event?” I’d say that’s the more important question for the fake ones, cause real ones can go right back into the soil!

We are using both... Our centerpieces will be real flowers. But everything else is artificial - my bouquet, my girls' bouquets, boutonnières, arch swags, 2 wreaths for our door wall, & any other we have bought from Hobby Lobby, etc as fillers here & there. Artificial is much, much cheaper. & at least you could re-sell it & make some money back from it... Unfortunately, real just dies & becomes a waste of money.
Although my centerpieces will be real flowers, I'm putting them together myself. I just ordered the stems from the florist, & plan to loosely place them in a mason jar... About $200-$300 cheaper for me to do them the night before or that morning vs the florist putting them together 🤷

Correction... Our petals for the flower girls are real as well (rule for our venue due to being surrounded by a working farm), mother's flowers, & grandma's corsage will also be real 🤷

I went with fake. I got them for myself, 9 bridesmaids, my groom, 9 groomsmen, mothers and fathers for only $500! I got them on etsy. She has great reviews and was a great help with everything I asked.

I’m doing silk flowers (fake) my wedding is in 9 months and all things flower related are done. Another thing off the check list and at a third of the price!

Flowers are for photographs, IMO. I wanted minimal work from florists and was quoted minimums of 2500 and 3000. I find that insane. So, I researched faux flowers and almost went the sola flower route off etsy. That would have cost me 500 to 600. I then stumbled upon lings moment through the forums here and ordered samples.

I'll have 3 burgundy tea roses for each guest table, 2 large bouquets, 4 boutonnieres, and sweetheart table vine with roses all for about 200-250. This includes my roses and gardenias from lings, my table vine and filler flowers from hobby lobby, and my eucalyptus from Amazon. It also includes floral tape and ribbon and some dried baby's breath.

Lings flowers photograph beautifully. I didn't want to risk seeing fray on silk flowers. Pics included are my faux flowers for bouquets and my centerpiece mock-up.
